Linkroom: N.Music sounds destroyed while Radio/CD sounds good??

    Dear all,

    I have the following setup:

    • Mainroom: BV8-40 + BS3200 + BL3
    • Linkroom 1: iMac 27" + Beoport + Linkplayer or BM-Link + BL6000
    • Linkroom 2: BV8-32 with Systemmodule
    • Linkroom 3: BL2000

The problem is in Linkroom 2. Listening to Radio/CD or A.Mem from the mainrooms BS3200 sounds very well on the BV8-32. N.Music and N.Radio sounds like the speaker drivers are broken.

N.Music or N.Radio in the Mainroom, Linkroom 1 or Linkroom 3 sounds well. Just in Linkroom 2 there is this problem... What I realized lately is that the BL2000 in Linkroom 3 has a slightly yellow LED and not real green. Do not know if this is a problem with the ML-Net or just aging of the LED.

Thanks for any idea where the problem can be.

    Heribert

Some have complained that iTunes 10 has a very bad sound.

In LinkPlayer, have you tried using "LinkMusic" instead of "iTunes"?

    Try using "A.N-MUS" and "A.N-RA" in linkroom # 2.
(maybe you'll have to "ADD" these commands to your "LIST" first)

If this solves the problem you'll have to check your
setup/frequencies of the video link distribution.

This could be an iTunes-related problem. Do you have an Airport Express at your disposal?

I tried this, but without any more positive result. Sound is as poor as with N.Music

Try to unistall iTunes 10 and install iTunes 9. It works much better.

I do not understand why iTunes should be the problem as it works well in the mainroom. It must be some kind of ML problem.

    I agree.  Here's a little troubleshooting logic:

    1)  Other link sources sound fine in room 2 so the ML input audio to room 2 and the BV8-32 is not the problem

    2)  N.Music/N.Radio sound fine in other rooms so iTunes, iMac, BeoPort and ML output from room 1 is not the problem

Therefore, I'd guess that there is some kind of connection issue between the audio output of room1 and the audio input of room2... although, it's not a general problem because then the other rooms would have issues.  Perhaps room1 and room2 go through the same junction box and there is some kind of issue that only shows itself in room2 when the audio output from room1 is active...  The description of the sound might mean that only 1/2 of the balanced audio is getting through.

I am using RJ45 cabling using Cat5 or 7 cables for the ML distribution. As the room 2 with BV8-32 was newly added it might be that the Cat7 cables are connected wrongly as version B instead of version A in the wall socket.

Could this cause the problem? But then I still do not see why sources from BS3200 work and N.music does not.

not so easy. The BL2000 is in my Saunarium (cellar) while the BV8-32 in my sleeping room in the 2nd floor and wall mounted... Bit I will try to patch the wall socket differently and test again.

    DEAR ALL,

Today I changed the wall socket connections from B to A. Without real success. There is still sound, but not good at all. My dealer now offered me to come over with a very long original ML cable to test if it is the network or the equipment.

Any ideas from your side still very welcome.

Today a B&O service technician was here. We made a direct line from Beoport to my BV8-32 - same problem.

After a long telephone conversation with B&O Germany he made a SW update for the system module. Now everything is updated but still same sound problem.

The helpdesk now suggested to change PCB14 mainboard... Very strange.

Re: Linkroom: N.Music sounds destroyed while Radio/CD sounds good??

i think it´s a powerfailure on masterlink (+ or - 8-15v) and that can be a cabling or beoport or bv8-32 failure.

the reason it work´s in linkroom 1 with beoport is that beolab are connected to pl socket on beoport not masterlink

in linkroom 3 the bl 2000 are not as sensitive to low voltage on masterlink as newer produckts like bv8-32

and maybe not so long cable between beoport and bl2000 compare to bv8-32 and b8-40?

    Gruss Gott Heribert;

    This sounds very familiar.

We experienced that issue 4 years ago in one upstairs bedroom. Checked ML junction box (no), checked the ML cable (not clear), pulled a new run of ML cable (no), and finally pulled everything apart and reconnected. Continued problem.

The problem was corrected with a replacement of the Beoport, which turned out to be a little defective.

    Hallo Swiss.

Strange that electronics can be a little defective. In the world of bits and bytes I thought there is just on or off - means works / does not work.

So I will talk to my dealer and try if he can offer a Beoport for testing. Much better than exchanging the mainboard of the LCD. Thanks for the hint.

... only the USB conection to control the Computer is digital - the rest of a BeoPort / ML Sytrem still is analog ...

We began using the Apple TV2, which is connected to the Avant. What we didn’t realized was that the Apple product would also manage all of the music files from our computers via the Avant and then through the ML to the entire house. It really works very well and is has created an interface that is reliable and very user friendly.
