    Problem with Century

I've had my century for 17 years now and just now it's decided to act-up on me!

The door opens and closes by itself, the radio will switch itself on & off, CD's will jump about from track to track, all quite random things really.

    Any ideas?

have you added any new electrical appliances to the environment?

    microwave?

    plasma TV?

    DECT phone?

    etc

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Re: Problem with Century

Thanks for the tip.  It could possibly be a wireless baby monitor or one of the IR sensors for my house alarm.

Will start by moving the monitor to another room.

    Cheers,

    G

    The IR thing sounds logically to me;

I once had an IR remote for a lamp that used a close frequency to the century's door open IR logic.

Activating it opened the door sometimes although there is no "official" BEOlink-command to open those remotely. It was definitely an interference.

At least that's an explanation for the doors; not sure about the station switching; these are totally different frequencies...

    Good luck,

    Re: Problem with Century

I moved the Century into another room where nothing will interfere with it but the problem still occurs! :(

I'm beginning to think something inside has failed.

Does anyone know of a B&O repair specialist close to the Blackpool area?

    Thanks,

    G

If you are using the "Handle - FM antenna" unplug it.

If using an antenna cable to receive FM via cable unplug the cable
from the wall outlet as well as from your Century (both sides!).

If the problem is caused by external units this may help to verify
that problems are caused externally. If so, the source has to be found
    - otherwise servicing will be required.

Thanks for the advice.  I have the "Handle Antenna" and will give that a try tonight.
