IR Transmitter/blaster for control of Sky+ HD box from an Avant.

Hello, Just recently purchased my 32 DVD Avant type 8453 with STB-C  but I do not have the IR lead to control the Sky box from the Beo4! Can I use any readily available Blaster or transmitter or do I need the Specific Item from B&O. Also which B&O product code is it & how much. I desperately want to get this up & running

    Many thanks

I think they are standard - at least my one appears to be - just make sure you have the right size plug on the end - I think it's a mini jack. Cost should be around £10 - perhaps try maplin or a dealer?

    It's a standard cable - 3,5mm mono jack.

    The "original" B&o IR-blaster cable has B&o item/order# 8330352 and retails for approx EUR 9 + VAT

EUR 40 has been the price in 2008 - now it's one of the few B&O articles that got significantly cheaper ...   Smile

Angry Your dealer should have had a look on recent prices ...

    Hi Seannie_230,

I tried a few from different sources that didn't seem to work too well on my BV8-32 (or that didn't work at all).  Many of the ones advertised are actually IR receivers, not transmitters (often very badly described) as they are often intended for use with Media Centre PC's.

In reply to your request for a link, I've found some good IR transmitters (which I use on my own TV) and I've made them available here: http://soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-tvir.htm

    Hope this helps,

    Steve.

Seannie_230 this is what I have ordered after reading about what it says its capable of, I will let you know if it works I am looking to control a sky +hd box and also a free view box on my 2003 Beovision Avant 32 DVD. After speaking with my local B&O dealer he thinks it should work

I paid £15 for an official B&O IR blaster from a dealer: it comes with a very long length of cable. If you want to control two boxes (Sky and Freeview (probably an old Panasonic model if you don't want to pay for a later chip)) then you will need the B&O splitter (one gold connection, one silver) to enable the different signals to go to each relevant box. The splitter is not expensive.

Search the forum for more on this topic.

    Guys,

This has been very interesting learning all this about the pricing from a dealer, I am now very disappointed with my quote from Lincoln B&O. If I had been quoted something like 10-15 pounds then I would of just bought it. Could you please direct me to a dealer that will provide for a reasonable cost just in case my 3rd party article does not work....I have my fingers seriously crossed now!

    Thanks again all

Re: IR Transmitter/blaster for control of Sky+ HD box from an Avant.

As already mentioned, approx GBP 30 for the IR Blaster cable is an out-dated price from 2008.
Simply ask your lokal dealer to check the current price for B&o item/order# 8330352 ...

I ordered my from b & o of Hampsted , I use a couple of dealers and Hampsted price,s always come out cheaper.

for example I had a quote for a beolab 11 and hampsted was £200.00 cheaper, so it does make sense to call a couple of dealers.

Do both eyes work? E.g. do you control a STB AND a DVD etc.?

    Thanks!
