    Beogram 6000. Reasonable price?

I've recently found Beogram6000 with mmc 6000 element for 150 euro. I wonder if this is a reasonable price for this model, it doesn't look like to be in a mint condition, butI think, just for the level of wear, it can be placed somewhere below the average.

Are there actually any special concerns about this model? What is likely to be damaged?  What I should especially ask for and what I should check?

Thanks in advance for any hints.

If it is complete and works, that is a good price. The MMC6000 will be worn - they almost always are - but the rest could well be fine. Cosmetics are important - the wooden surround can be replaced but you clearly would need a donor unit.

    Hi,

So, have you bought it yet? Any photos?

    Hi,

Actually the price went up. There are more people interested in. Current price is 200, still probably a good offer (depending on a condition). However I have to reconsider it, because buying it means to retip the cartridge one day, what cost some decent money also. Tough decisions - heart vs. brain. ;)

    Re: Beogram 6000. Reasonable price?

I have noticed a considerable dip in prices for most 400x based players atm. Not recession related but must be that plus christmas coming up. A 6000 good condition with original cartridge went for £70 recently. The only thing that was mentioned in the listing was that there were no speakers to test for sound. Yet, I have seen many faulty and not best cond. 400x go for £70 at least this worked!!!

A fully operational 4000 went for £120 the other day however there was a patch of deep scratching in the lid. A few weeks ago I bid for one that ended up going for £170 and that was faulty!

So, maybe under the current market and considering the condition it might not be the best deal...?

    Olly.

    Hi,

Well then I got ripped off, big way...Big Smile

I bought mine (a 4000 in VGC, but not working) for the princely sum of €80... more of which later!

I also bought my (very nice) 4002 for 50€.

Yes you got some good deals Jaques. However my 4000 was £15 :) Needed a fair bit of work and the wood trim is not original (and not even decent). I actually won it for £30 but had the audacity to complain when I saw it wasn't quite as nice as the auction led me to believe!!!
