    What Telephone ?

I am looking into purchasing a B&O phone but not sure whether to go for the Beocom 5 or 2.

Any advice / suggestions would be helpful.

For me it's simple. Beocom 5 is probabaly the better phone and easier to use. the Beocom 2 is better looking. I use my landline not that often, so I don't care about the ease of use that much. Personally I would choose a Beocom 2.

    Re: What Telephone ?

Had a new Beocom 5 at home for about two weeks now - finding it works well. The big plus for us is the speaker phone - my wife works from home regularly and loves this feature when communicating with her office whilst on the PC. The look is growing on me - as I find happens with a lot of B&O equipment. I still love our Beocom 6000's, though. BC 5 integrated really well with the existing BC6000's too.

Beocom 2 every time, it is a B&O icon - it is a very lovely thing indeed.

beocom 2 is not ergonomic. its keypad is awkward(2 columns) also does not have backlight and its shape is tiring to hold at longer phone conversations.

The Beocom 4 and 6000s are my pick, both easy to use and you can attach a headset if you need one.

    Re: What Telephone ?

Interesting some users prefer Beocom 5 to the 2 as I will be needing one for upstairs maybe the choice could be 5 for downstairs and 2 for upstairs !

Keypad on the 2 is not an issue once the number is in the memory. And it is indeed a lovely thing.

BeoCom 2 is the most beautiful and the most ergonomic when held correctly. I agree that numbers aren't an issue as you're dialing mostly from the phonebook or caller id.

Currently I have a BeoCom 4 and always wanted to go for a BeoCom 2 or BeoCom 5, but none of them having the Earset Home capability, I'm still holding my BC4!

Very convenient when you're single, I don't need several bases. BC2 is a winner when it comes to design & looks, but BC5 is way ahead in terms of features. Guess what most BeoHolics do? Buy one of each...Big Smile

The Beocom 2 as well as the BC6000 are true icons of B&O...

    I have replaced my former MK1 BC6000 (2000 version ) with ..another BC6000 (2010 version).

The beocom 2 is best looking by a mile but I have a beocom 6000 as this is excellent to use and nice colour variety

I do plenty of conference calls for work at home and the Beocom 6000 MKII with the earset is simply superb: comfortable, fantastic sound quality and the simplicity of putting the call on mute.

Some of the calls go on for hours on end and I never even notice the earset or phone as it is clipped to my belt.  I can then do something productive with my time, like bath the kids –not kidding.

I could never do that with a Beocom 5 and speaker base.

I think the BC5 is interesting with its microphone-base functionality, meantime IMHO,  its design does not really reflect the B&O spirit, as can do the BC2, BC4 and BC6000 for example.

    Re: What Telephone ?

For the looks I agree, the BeoCom 2 is much more impressive that the Beocom 5. However, owing the 5 with the handsfree speaker, I must say I am quite impressed with it. It work splendidly (at least with the latest sofware :-), selecting contact is very easy (especcially if you have multi numbers  per contact), the shared phonebook and share last number called works good and intuitive as well.

For me the handfree setup is really working good for conference calls too and the sound is cristal clear as well.

I have it currently attached to my internet modem using VoiP.
