    Jensen has lost his touch

Jacob Jensen's dock for Tangent shows that he's lost his design touch (in comparison with the B&O products of the past.)

I love it. It is a pure Jacob Jensen design. Square and minimal. It has also radio and cd inside.

Jacob didn't lost his own design.

If anyone can tell me what is now typical B&O/Lewis design? Square, round, ellips or tulip? I don't know....Sad

Not in the flesh, but I am not struck by either the BS8 or the Tangent box!

I think the Tangent box isn't Jacob Jensens best work, but ist is far better than the BS8. I have seen the BS8 in flesh and it is outright ugly.

I quite like the look - but:

    1. Stereo in a box that narrow?

    2. Where are the speakers? - must be in the sides

    3. 7W a channel

    4. 100 - 20,000 Hz

I looked for a manual but couldn't find one.

Is it any better in a BS8 Peter? I doubt it.

Take a listen, John. The stereo image is amazing given the drivers' proximity.

Fair play Trip. Am planning a visit to the local dealer next week, so will try it out. Think there's a valid point about there not being much in it WRT the cms of difference between the driver placings in the BS8 and the Jensen boxy thing though. It's not as if there are metres in it!

    Quite nice, isn't it?

With the iPod in place one gets Monolith associations from 2001.

My preference goes to the black BeoSound 8, though.

Actually it's not Jacob Jensen (the B&O designer) -but his son (Timothy Jacob Jensen) who runs the business (Jacob Jensen Design) today.

I have to say I really like it, though. Sound aside. After all, I have half a dozen non working B&O pieces laying around just because I like the way they look, so I wouldn't even have to turn it on!

Re: Jensen has lost his touch

I would say that this reminds me of the Beosystems 5000/5500/6500/7000 design. Come on this is really his pure style.

On further review.............. it looks OK without the iPod. The iPod on top just makes it look silly (like so many other docks.)

The BS8 looks silly until you put an iPad onto it........... Whistle

I like this - I'd actually quite like to get one as a gift for my parents. Anyone know where in the UK I could get one from?

I've seen the BS8 in the flesh, and it's not that hot...

Can't say I won't buy one at some point, I love the small remote, but the overall design could be better IMHO. I'll keep my BS3 for now.

Indeed very interesting. The ethernet part though shows the Masterlink Gateway path. And that means a full revision of my complete home link. Still it's something to consider!

Good choice putting a BV8 in the background - it's probably the only thing from the current selection that goes well with that.

Have to say I like the Jensen cube a lot as well.

I was also under the impression that the man himself doesn't really do much nowadays. Note how carefully marketing material usually refers to "Jacob Jensen Design" (the company), not Jacob Jensen, even if building on the old heritage. Very obvious in that Toshiba TV collaboration video - I've lost the YouTube link, but it's well worth a view if you can find it.

I like the cube too, but i the shelf placement oin the first picture doesn't work for me,  I like it much more in Soundproof's picture as a freestanding unit and the echoes of the 80's and 90's Beosystems is very pleasing.

Re: Jensen has lost his touch

That is a pretty neat box! I like how the CDs are handled without a tray. I also like how there is a dock as I cannot live without an iPod and I think the iPod looks good on the top!
