Beovision 7-55 with or without integrated BlueRay DVD - which one is the better option ?

Evaluating the BV 7-55, I am thinking if I should go for the BV with the integrated DVD/Blueray Player or if I should just purchase BV 7-55 and buy an external player .

Integration always has its many positive sides, especially with B&O.

On the other hand, an external "peripheral" hardware element such as a DVD player has the chance to be upgraded over time. Any expert opinions or even experiences ?

I depends how much you want the built in Blueray in the 7-55! My 7-55 has the Blueray and the picture is excellent and im also running to a projector. Before hand I was useing a Ps3. Like yourself,I had to think about this one and in the end I had one built in!.

    Bv7-55 & Bv7-32...Blue,lab1's x4,Yes4Blue, 6000x4Blue,Beocom6000 Blue,Beo5.Oh what a Blue set-up & a Beosound 5...After all,its Bang&Olufsen!

We chose to skip the built in player and use an external one and are very happy with the choice. I would say, however, that the built in player's curved door/cover seems to fit nicely over a Beolab 7-4 and arguably looks better, in my opinion.

    Beovision 7-55 with Beolab 7-4, 9s and 4000s

    Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

    Beosound 1, 5, 2000, and 3000

I'm considering the BeoVision 7-55 without an optical drive. Does anyone know much the price is reduced without any disc player?

BeoVision 7-55 3D, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound 8, BeoLab 7-6, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, LC-1, BeoTime (analog clock), Form 1 headphones, Beo 4 remote.

price is reduced by far more than the cost of purchasing a PS3 or equivalent player

obviously there are top end BR players that could end up raising the total cost beyond the integrated option

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

If I am remembering correctly, when we purchased our 7-55 the BluRay option was either $1200 or $1500.

    Beovision 7-55 with Beolab 7-4, 9s and 4000s

    Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

    Beosound 1, 5, 2000, and 3000

Thanks for the feedback. In the end, decision will be somewhere between "emotional" and "rational"...like always with B&O products.

Keep in mind that not all external br-players output hdmi and cvbs at the same time. Cvbs is needed if you want to send the signal to other linked TV's.

I chose my 7-55 without the integrated player adding a Pioneer BDP-LX91 and have to say the results are outstanding.  The LX91 connects to the web via ethernet and thus easily receives software upgrades.    Control of the Pioneer can also be programmed on the BEO 5 remote.

There are people who still use DVD?! (normal or Blueray) WOW. I would not go for the internal one. I never used mine on the 7-32. I do prefer the media center. By far more convenient!

    Best regards
