    beosystem 1 to plasma screen

    Hi everyone,

I am planning to install a beosystem 1 (US) that I had in storage for a couple of years. This to upgrade the good'ol AV7000 that I have been using for a couple of years. Now that we finished some reno's , we can actually have room to put this big clunker and I would appreciate the improvements in sound quality this unit would offer.

The beovision4 that came with it has long been sold and I was hoping to hook up another one of my plasma's to it.
I would use it mostly for the surround sound capabilities and to connect all of my speakers.
Even if I wouldn't be able to plug in any of my hi def units in (blue ray player , mac mini etc), I still would need to hook it up to a screen for setting it up etc.

What would be the best way to hook up the unit to a panasonic 65" plasma that only has hdmi and component inputs? No vga.
I guess a converter of some kind is necessary and I am open to suggestions to which one performs ok with the beosystem1.

Thanks in advance and any input is greatly appreciated.

    Olivier

To get started... some loose thoughts.

Do you recall what SW rev is in the BS1?

The component out from the BS1 should work fine. You will have to play w/ the SCREEN settings in the BS1 as well as the INPUT settings on the panel.

How do you intend to control everything -remote wise?

As far as "other devices" -look at a Zektor switch.

    Hey Smile

    SW rev is 5.0.
The BS1 has a component in ... only vga out.
I just need a solution to hook up th BS1's vga to my plasma screen, in order to get to the settings.
I do have several beo4 remotes that we use already.
Currently already using an autoswitching hdmi switch in order to switch hi def inputs from mac mini, blue ray and OTA hi def.

The BS1 only has VGA out, not component.  It has one component input

Not sure about adapters but you may possibly be able to hook the BS1 to a borrowed projector or another monitor with VGA input, just to get the settings done.  I have a BS1 and only have the VGA hooked up for menu setup as you are trying to do, but fortunately my TV had a VGA input.

Surprise Oh dear... you are all, of course, correct! The component is an INPUT not an OUTPUT. What a mistake on my part having a pair of these! I ran over to their respective cabinets and reviewed the wiring... collapsing in a pile of self-doltedness. No excuse!

Laughing  kind of the same mistake I made at first .... resulting in posting this question in the first place.

After doing some research, i was thinking something like this might just be what I would need :

    http://us.startech.com/product/VGA2HDMIPRO-Professional-VGA-to-HDMI-Video-Converter-with-Audio

You think this would work ?
