Beosystem 3 owners: how to switch output sound?

    hi....

I  have some problems configuring my Beosystem 3 box. I cannot figure out how to switch output sound formats (

    Dolby Digital 5.1/6.1 EX, Dolby 7.1 EX, Dolby Pro-Logic  ll/llx, DTS 5.1. DTS ES 6.1, DTS Neo:6 ??????????)

I tried Sound but no results...

Any little help will be highly appreciated!

    thanks

You can not change sound output. The DVD or BluRay player or BS3 will decode the formats you mention according to the device's capability. Menu Options. Sound. Sound System will display input and output formats.

And it never seems to pick up 7.1 what ever the output to it is!

    Anyone else had this issue?

..........I just do not undestand! If I remember corectly the last receiver I had was capable of switching the Output type of sound. Why it is not possible on such an expensive machine?

Dolby, DTS etc are not output formats. They are methods of encoding the audio data. Dolby will always be decoded as Dolby. It is not possible, nor is there any need to, for instance, output Dolby as DTS.

I do not have one of these machines... just some brainstorming here:

I thought the "Speaker" command did change it from stereo, dolby 3, speaker 4 (front and back stereo), speaker 5 (5.1) etc.

This is just what I remember from reading around. Corrections welcome.

    EDIT: misunderstanding Embarrassed

    hmm...thanks guys.

Finally, after reading a lot on Forum and after 4 days of hard work to configure Beosystem 3 and Beo5 I would say that it is a fantastic machine. I am really happy with my setup. Even now it is not 100% functional but I can live with that....

Now I have to find a way to switch ON.OFF my TV ( plasma LG with RS232 serial port included). The SW on my BS3 does not have an AUTODETECTION mode so I.m stuck now!

Re: Beosystem 3 owners: how to switch output sound?

As far as I remember I have seen some setting in the service menu to force the output format for non-digital content (Dolby Pro-Logic or DTS Neo:6), but not 100% sure...

I believe you can force it to a certain type of output. . in the service menu

I'll look when I get home and check. . I want to say there is some way to do this though.

Of course, if you pick "Speaker 5" it should go to whatever the 'best' encoding on your media is.

I'm ready for something new that I actually want to buy!
