    Motorised stand question..

There is a motorised stand down the road from me but it is designed for an MX / MS - can I remove the MX base plate and attach the 'ordinary' stand base plate from my LX4500 onto it? They do look very similar!

    Thanks.

    Olly.

    Re: Motorised stand question..

I may be wrong but I seem to remember reading on here that there are 2 types of motors used with MX TV's which have a different number of pins on the lead which plugs into the TV.

If the plug is compatible with your LX then yes you can simply change the top plate. Unplug the TV from the mains before plugging the stand motor lead into your LX, then restore mains power or your TV won't recognise the motorised stand.

Your LX will have a stand socket with 4 pin holes. Make sure that the motor on the stand has a plug with 4 pins and you will be compatible.

Did they change the interface as well as the plug then? I will contact them and see...

Yes, the 5-pin motor is totally incompatible - but it was only used by MX8000 as far as I know (4200 perhaps as well?).

The 5 pin motor is only compatible with MX8000 and MX4200

The motor is different and the control system/mechanism is different. It is NOT possible to modify one to fit the other.

ok thanks Graham. For your info it is on ebay and was apparently taken from a MS6000 so this should be ok then...? I think £10 is value for me (assuming knowone else bids!) but it stings that I got an LX5500 and motorised stand for £5 last year!!! Gave them to my mum though..

I just sold two for £30 each so a tenner is a bargain!
