    Metadata software for Mac

Hi all, I currently have something around 98Gb of music mostly with all details, however there are several ones that have no information at all. As I'm not quite familiar with, is there any software that I could download and use in order to get all necessary information for some of my albums? Many thanks in advance for any tip! Best regards Spiros

Select the songs in iTunes and choose Advance > Get Track names

It works better if you select all the songs of 1 album at the same time and in the correct order.

Already tried it but not very successful.

I saw that there are plenty of software for this reason but which one is the best?

    Re: Metadata software for Mac

tried a few Mac SW 2yrs ago...back then there was nothing so i installed WM Ware and MediaMonkey on WinXP install - much better for batch meta data management and save it hardocded into the tags of the files......

If u use iTunes for media tagging it only saves it into its own XML so when you add the files to another iTunes or you reinstall iTunes on another computer you will have to redo the tagging.....

i'm sure that the SW has improved/new releases in the last 2yrs......but don't know...

Grant me the serenity to accept the B&O I can't afford

Some native OS X tools you can look at:

adding meta data including song text:

    http://www.equinux.com/us/products/songgenie/index.html

Adding covers from multiple - self definable sources:

    http://www.equinux.com/us/products/coverscout/index.html

I use both of them and like them.

They have been on sale previously at MacUpdate as well, so maybe they will return in the future for a reduced price again.

    Hi Spiros,

Have you bought the software indeed and what are your experiences with it so far?

    Spiros,

I have used the software now for aproxx. 6 months, and although I still like it and do not hesitate to recommend it, I think you should also be aware that I tend to use it more and more in conjunction with iTunes and scripts from Doug (http://dougscripts.com/itunes/index.php). The Equinux software I use for generic filling of all the metadata fields whereafter I use iTunes and the scripts from Doug for  fine tuning.

If your library is not that big, I would advise to give that a try first before spending money on Equinux. In general Equinux is easier to use and more automated, but does not bring that much additional functionality if you have a small library.

    Hello Spiros,

    Three options you can try:

    • http://polluxapp.com/ - I use this one, managing 320Gb of music. It does not solve everything but it helps a lot.

I hope you can have a good experience with them.

    Best regards,
