    Beolab 11 opinions

After a few months since it was launched I was wondering what is your opinion about the Beolab 11. Specially if you have heard or own one.

    Re: Beolab 11 opinions

Hi BeoFab, I'm waiting for mine to be delivered. I had the chance to hear it and I think it's ideal if you want to just boost up a bit the bass. Of course it is not Beolab 2 so I guess that Beolab 11 should accompany certain speakers that already have some certain good bass level. I would say that it gives exactly what would be missing. On the other hand I think it's a matter of taste in the sound and how everybody wants to hear their favorite music!

    Best regards

    Hi,

mine was installed on Tuesday this week in connection with 2 brand new BeoLab3.

As of the short time of installation I would not point out a final decision or final review of my installation but right now I would judge the BeoLab11 as the perfect extra boost for my installation.

In more silent situations you hear the little extra from it but if you turn on some more volume you can actually feel the bass.

In case of some more questions please let me know.

The BeoLab 11 is perfect for BeoLab 4000 and 6000.  I have a switch attached to BeoLab 11/4000 and 6000 combinations in my store and the difference is very apparent...

we have had ours for 2.5 months now and love the richness it gives to our listening

not obvious as a subwoofer - very subdude

we have it coupled with 2xBL3s

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

This is exactly what a subwoofer should do for music. Music was recorded for stereo speakers - left & right. If you can hear your subwoofer, then you're hearing three speakers, which isn't right!

Subwoofers are only there to make up for the shortfalls of loudspeakers. If your speakers struggle reproducing sound at 50 Hz, then you need a subwoofer to give them a hand. If your subwoofer is sat in the corner booming away constantly, then there's something wrong, either with the subwoofer or the way it's set up.

I've been very impressed with the BeoLab 11 on the occasions I've heard it - really adds a lot of depth and weight without bogging the sound down in OTT bass (unlike certain other subwoofers).

    Hi Alex :)

    I was not complaining !

I was commenting ... we like it, although our son-in-residence was looking for more *doof* *doof*

However with the right movie at the right volume you can get the effects :D

    Thank you for the cooments.

Living in a condo I think that is exactly what I was looking for. Something to add another layer but without being omnipresent.

    Re: Beolab 11 opinions

I've been using the BL11 since the week it entered the shops. I added it to two BL6000's and I'm still going completely wild each and every day. The bass is so incredibly ... well... GOOD! Not loud, but good, accurate, fast, perfect for music. It took my BL6000's right into the 21st century and hasn't let go ever since.

I've long thought about replacing my BL6000's with BL9's, but I just don't like the design of the 9's and LOVE the design of the 6000's. The addition of the BL11 to the BL6000's has settled the problem once and for all: I can listen to this combination till the day I die. The 9's will not enter the house, thanks to the BL11.

I'm not trying to say that the BL6000/BL11-combination sounds better than the BL9. Not at all. But it's made the gap between the BL6000 and the BL9 a WHOLE lot smaller. Because not only it adds bass to the 6000's, but it kind of 'releases' the 6000's to play like true stars.

Funny thing: half of the improvement is in the HIGH end!

    Can't recommend the BL11 enough, if you're using 4000's or 6000's.

where did you place the BL11 ? as recommended midway between your BL 6000s ?

It was a birthday present so I am not supposed to know :)

And the B&O 2010 pricelist was produced before the BL11 launch

But I shall find out for you !

    (around AUD2,600 I think)

No, I didn't :). I placed it slightly (about 30cms) to the left of the left BL6000.

Copy that ;-). I was watching Toy Story 3 last night, where there are some nice explosions right in the beginning (including a sonic boom) and well... it's a good thing the neighbours were having dinner in town Big Smile

Is anyone using Beolab 11 in combination with Beolab 1's? I'm interested to hear their opinion about this combination for playing music.

Ease up turbo, lol! Sorry, but I tried my 6000's with the BL9's connected to the sub connector, just to see how much better the 6000's can sound with a good bass foundation and the BL9's are just in a completely different ball park. BL9 = open, balanced and powerful BL6000 are toy speakers in comparison, the gap remains huge i'm afraid.

Not sure how your BL9s were connected; but yesterday I connected our BeoSound 4 to our BeoLab 11 and then onto our BeoLab 6000s and was very pleased with how the stereo separation was improved by the high end becoming more liberated

Of course they're not BL9's Stick out tongue. BUT, (and that's a HUGE but!), the BL11 releases them like nothing ever did.

You know, before the BL11, I wanted the 9's when I was listening to the 6000's, because the 6000's didn't sound good to me.

Now, using the BL11, I'd only want the 9's when I'm listening to the 9's. Not because the 6000's are crap, but because the 9's are heaven.

Finally, back home, looking at my 6000's (IMHO the most beautiful speakers in the world) and listening to them, they're all that I want. Because I can't hear the 9's at home, I can see them though (which does NOT make me want them more!) and I can hear the 6000's with the BL11 and get wild.

Am I making sense? Erm Probably not, but that's pretty normal when you're in love - with a freakin' subwoofer Big Smile

There's a difference in price between the surface finishes, I think? The painted finish is cheaper than the anodised by about $300AUD - or there abouts. And you can lop off another 8.5% if you're able to purchase one this month.

I just wanted to thank everybody for your opinions. I just finished connecting my BL11 to a Beovision 10 with BL3 as front speakers and the difference is incredible!!!

I was hesitant before connecting the BL11 since I have never demo it. But now I can tell it is a keeper and a MAJOR improvement in sound quality.

I just tried it with music, cd through the BR player but my guess is it will be great for movies too.

It is very equilibrated and pleasant neither weak nor "booming" is just right.

Honestly stronger bass than this would be almost ridiculous.

The white one is only painted because it is technical NOT possible to anodize aluminium to white color.
