Super Rare Antique from the 1920s

Not exactly Hyperbo design, but little doubt that B&O were serious about premium quality.

I guess even the museum in Struer should be interested?

OK, that'll sort the missing 1920's from my collection!

    ...or perhaps not Laughing

Wonder how many years a factory worker would've needed to work to be able to afford that in 1929.

Strange to think that not long afterwards they pulled this out of their hat, as they responded to criticism of their curlicued woodcraft.

I believe they are quite rare with the record player. But I do not see an immediate need for one in my future. The RGS5, however ... one came up for sale here a couple of years ago. Was auctioned off for a spectacular amount.

The one in the Struer museum is a replica.

The 3LS is a wonderful radiogram and this one seems to be in superb condition and cheap too !
Note that it could be either a DC or an AC version.
The 3LK (tabletop radio set) and 3LC (chassis in metal box) seems to be rarer than the radiogram.
It was also available as a more square'ish and box-like floor standing radiogram known as 3LF, they are
    very hard to find.

Most Hyperbo 5RGS are replicas. As far as I know, only one original is known to exist. It spent some
time in the industrial museum in Oslo if I remember correctly but I don't know where it is now.
Another one is by a private collector but there's doubt whether it is an original or a replica, I can't get the
    chassis number from the owner...
I have heard that parts of one remains somewhere on my island but I am not sure about where.

    Martin,

    Isn't this a 5 lamper radiogramofon? 1931?

    It's indeed in superb condition.

I wouldn't mind to have it in my living room.

Re: Super Rare Antique from the 1920s

Sorry. You're of course right, Rudy.
    This is a 5-Lamper Radiogram.
The cabinet is a bit more detailed than the 3-Lamper, inlayed
and marbled veneer etc. that the 3-Lamper doesn't have.
Besides, the 3-Lamper radiogram came in (at least) two different cabinet
versions and both were much more boxy and square'ish.
The 3-Lamper 3LS, that I confused it with, is not a radiogram but merely
    a console radio.
If I remember correctly, you already have a very nice 3LS in your collection, right ?

A very nice piece indeed !
Norway is not a member of the EU so duty, VAT etc. will have to be added if
you or I were to import it.
Still a nice find and a friendly price, though.
It's not everyday a piece like this comes up for sale.

Re: Super Rare Antique from the 1920s

I was very lucky to find a 3-Lamper , 3LS, in very nice condition.

However, I like more the square'ish Bauhaus design of the 3 LF and the Hyperbo 3 RGS.

Maybe, one day I'll find one.

    The 5-Lamper RG looks great.

Amazing how good an 80-year old radiogram can look.

I simply love the mable veneer and the way it's mirrored.

"They don't make them like that anymore",  like in the "old " days.

    Build to last forever.
