How do you play side B on a reel to reel ?

Hi, i have a Beocord 1200 and finaly found a reel with music i actualy like on ebay, my maybe stupid questions is how do you play side B on these things? And is it a special trick to use when you lock the end of the tape to the empty reel before winding the tape over to it?

Are you certain that the tape you have was recorded in a format that allows this.

You have two track - stereo one direction only

You have two track - two tracks of mono - you turn the tape around and play the other direction

You have 4 track two lots of stereo - turn tape around and play

They are not compatible, though some machines can handle a couple of formats but usually they cannot handle all possible formats

Some machines can handle several formats, but only record in one format.

A four track machine can play a two track recorded tape. The other way around (play four track on a two track) is not possible unless the recorder is equipped for this (BeoCord 1500 De Luxe, BeoCord 1800 DeLuxe and BeoCord 2400 DeLuxe).
