Just acquired a really nice Beogram 4004 from a seller in the US.  It's a type 5526 as you'd expect.  However, I assumed that it would be voltage switchable from 110 to 240v as most of my other Beograms are.  This one has no markings or text on the rotatable voltage switch under the turntable which just seems to be a blank.  The label on the rear cover just states Beogram 4004 117v 60Hz.  Was this normal to just produce a model for the US as I thought it would have made sense to have it switchable for Worldwide use?.

I assume it will just be OK with a step down transformer from 220v to 110v?

Found a cartridge cover inside too - what a surprise!

I'm really getting back into vinyl.  Also bought a Beogram 2400 at the weekend.  Somebody stop me!

All the Beograms of this range that I've seen here for repairs from the US were 117V only, so
I believe that is normal for most US versions.
Yes, a step-down transformer will be fine.
And finding a stray cartridge head or cover, or even a complete cartridge, inside is not uncommon either.

With over 350 pieces of B&O at home, I think I'm already seriously infected!.  Now that I have some of the Beograms running, I've just rediscovered the warmth of vinyl again.  I can't wait to have the Beosystem 5000 restored at Classic Audio and put the black magic through that, the Beovox 5000's and the Cubes.
