The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
According to measuringworth.com and Beocentral, in 1968 it would've cost the equivalent of £1,140 of 2008 money (using retail price index) *phew*!
So he has actually counted in a good depreciation for the cabinet damage
