Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
Kokane81:
BeoPlayer for Apple App
When BeoSound 8 is launched, a new
BeoPlayer for Apple App will also be launched. The intention is to
complete the Bang & Olufsen user interface with the BeoSound 8 and
offers Net Radio, Alarm Clock and Music Library Browser in a single
branded interface.
Hi,
Could I ask you where did you find out about this information. I mean it sounds too good to be true. I hope you are right.

Yep.. there's an app for the BeoSound8

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
Will this new BeoPlayer app also control the BeoSound 5? It seems logical that such an app should appear since we already know that the new Beo6 will be able to have 2-way control over the BeoSound 5 via wifi.

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
As stated, the app is for control and features of the Beosound 8, not more.
They never speak about REMOTE control!
There are loads of docks with their own app, even car stereos! What the app will do is just provide a single app with NetRadio and clock, all with a B&O logo. Then when you want NetRadio or clock when the iPod is docked, launch this app.
Not more. Nothing exciting there.

That's rather disappointing. Still, once B&O enables 2-way wi-fi remote capability for the Beo6 to control the BeoSound 5, it seems it would only be a matter of time until an iPhone/iPad app is developed to do the same thing.

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
Seems to me that most of us have a long which list.. and most are going to be seriously dissapointed once the BeoSound 8 is released... due to the fact of all the rumors.
Bottom line is that "The Sheep" have promised an iPod dock.... So I'm expecting a descent iPod/iPad/iPhone dock with a descent sound quality.. Nothing more nothing less. No ML; no connectivity.. just a stand alone docking which can be controlled with a remote plus PowerLink. Anything else is a surplus. You want an alarm clock? You want (Net)Radio: there's an App for that :-)
Again.. At this moment in time I don't see the benefit of the BS8 connected in an ML/BeoNet situation. If you want to have that.. then there's the BeoSound 5 (Encore). All my music is on my network... Only my favorite albums/music is in my iPhone for when I'm on the road. I don't need to have all my music in my iPhone.. (it doesn't fit on my iPhone either)
The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
let me ask this obvious question. .
if your ipod is 'docked' in to the station. . then what will be the benefit of the 'app'
it won't have anything to do with controlling it, merely setting up playlist and allowing BEO remote commands i'd assume. .
I'm ready for something new that I actually want to buy!

So the interface looks as if the whole thing is B&O. Little point really but probably looks nice.

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
Wouldn't you assume that IF there there was an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch app created by Bang & Olufsen for the BeoSound product we have never seen (and only know the specs via hearsay) AND it has a remote (again, hearsay), that the remote would control the app as well as the i-whatever as well as the BeoSound itself? Surely, BeoWorld hasn't discovered the emperor has no clothes before we even know if there is an emperor?

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
If B&O talks about an interface for Apple and not Ipod or Itunes, then it leads to believe that the app will be for the computer, not the audio player? This is what BeoPlayer is for the PC, after all.. . If I'm wrong, they should call it another name I think.

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
The good news is:
It seems that the sound is very, very good. Much better than the BL4000s, something closer to the BL8000s. WOW!
If so I can't really think about a better bang for the money (no pun intented). I think it will be a great hit. I really like the direction that B&O is taking. Somehow is catching up...
I see new additions for my collection in the near future

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
Maybe the sound performance will be great, but the stereo perspective will be quite poor, probably similar to a BeoSound 1/BeoLab 2000 , given the sketches already found on the net.
I would have preferred an updated BeoLab 3500 with an Ipod dock on top of the present display, this design would have allowed better stereo; besides, the Ipod dock market is "ruled" by the Zeppelin when it comes to design and performance, and I'm surprised that B&O designers chose a Mickey Mouse design to compete with that.

It seems that from packaging to materials and actual design it would be much nicer than expected. And my bet is it will be controlled also by beo4/5/6.
If so it will be an excellent contender for the Zeppelin and in my humble opinion a home run.

Re: Check this new app to work with bs8
It sounds excellent. Stereo perspective is not as much an issue as you'd think. Comes with its own mini-remote, but can work with Beo4/5/6 as well. Design is very attractive in person. App is for unifying the experience and giving a value-add with N.RADIO & alarm clock as well as porting iTunes content into the App itself. Not necessary, but a great way to get the whole B&O experience. There's also some great tech under the hood which I'm sure we'll talk about more later.

The Beolab3500 Ipod B&ock would be a cool solution or just like this. http://www.beodesign.org/
