BV7-32 + new apple tv = no sound

connected my new generation apple tv to my bv7-32(mark 2) thru hdmi , then use an "optical - coexial" adapter to connect a sound source from apple tv to the digital sound input .

very nice picture but NO SOUND !

i had checked all setting and tried all 4 rca digital sound input socket . still no sound .

anybody success on doing so ? or is it just me ?

Have you selected the S/P-DIF on the connections menu? Otherwise if it says none, then that would be why.

Also, i'm not 100% but I thought that the Apple TV does not send 5.1 through the Optical, in which case the BV7-32 won't be able to pick it up.  Some TV's can accept optical/digital coax as stereo but not the BV7-32.  Most people connect it through HDMI, but as your TV only has DVI, then you have to go HDMI - DVI for picture and phono's for sound.

    Hope that helps.

Re: BV7-32 + new apple tv = no sound

I have the exact same Problem here - The funny thing is I can not get to work the Digital Input with an DVD-Player with Digital out too.

If no one here finds  a work around on this problem the only possibility will be an external DA-Converter:

    http://www.amazon.de/Digital-Analog-Decoder-GEFEN-Multichannel/dp/B0021QBIBQ/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1287849139&sr=8-11

Somehow the BV 7-32 seems to have problems with digital stereo.

Has anyone an Idea if there is a something like a global setting for the digital audio in? I did register the Digital Audio but i can not get it to work with either the Apple TV (+ Opto-Coax-Converter) or the digital DVD-Player...

i thought that this switcher :

can solve our problem regarding the BV 7-32 digital input issue , but it failed me again . still no sound .

    sighhhhhh .

Re: BV7-32 + new apple tv = no sound

Do you have the possibility to check if your Digital Audio in will accept any input at all?

I tried with the coax digital out of an external DVD-Player (with an audio CD) and it still does not work!

I read on the Forum, that the BV 7-32 does not accept digital Stereo - only 5.1.

Although I chose this setting on the new Apple TV - no sound.

I have to retest the external DVD-Player with a 5.1 DVD

I wonder if our BV 7-32 are broken...

There is also info on the forum you have to enable PCM Stereo in the customer service menu. Do you have the latest firmware? Smile

No, I still have the first firmware - will the new firmware solve the Problem?

How can I find out which Model I have and which Firmware-Version runs on my TV?

How do I get into the customer service menu?

For the sound you need DSM SW version 3.01 (part no 8344439 ) . I did it on my BV7 now it works perfectly. The chip is quite cheap (40 Euros) but the BO technicien need to come and open your TV.

SW must be above 7.84 you can fin it in customer service menu.

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

I have the same problem with my BV&-32 and ATV. I have tried everything posted apart from a tech call-out. Any other ideas or do I need to call in the local expert?

Yeah, but are you using HDMI and Optical simultaneously?

Many thanks, my local B&O dealer finally agreed to resolve the problem on the 30th, using the advice provided here. Will watch him like a hawk and update once working.
