    Problem with 3.87

    I have software version 3.87.

I also have my current config .xml file from 3.59

I'm trying to copy it in to a "serial number" file in the program files but can't

get the program to pull it up. .

    Any ideas?

I have tried creating new configs and replacing but the program won't pull it up.

    Thanks

    MJM

    Re: Problem with 3.87

Assuming software version 3.87 was installed on the same PC as 3.59 was on, then the upgrade would have overwritten the 3.59 version, BUT not effected your configuration files which remain in the clients directory.

Recent versions of the B&O Configuration Tool have NOT conformed to the Microsoft standard of putting all installed programmes in the "Program Files" directory. I have a feeling that you may have previously installed a very old version which did go into the "Program Files" directory and it is that you have been changing without success.

Both version 3.59 and 3.87 are installed at:-

    C:\Bang & Olufsen\Beo5 Configuration Tool

and you configuration file will be located at:-

    C:\Bang & Olufsen\Beo5 Configuration Tool\Clients\2xxxxxxx

where xxxxxxxx is the serial number of your Beo5

    Regards Keith....

    Re: Problem with 3.87

    Well. . . .. .

that worked but unfortunately the old config will not upload to the BEO5

It says "charge battery."  it shows my zone but every time I hit a zone it

    freezes up and resets. .

    ideas?

    Thanks

throw away all images in your setup and try again.

If this reappears than you can expect a screen failure

    Re: Problem with 3.87

I don't think it's a software Config tool's problem anymore. On Christmass 2009, I did an upgrade my self and unfortunately this damaged the Beo5's main hardware and had to be changed. Something went wrong during firmware upgrade and...................

    Best regards

The problem you are seeing is nothing to do with the configuration Tool, but could have several causes:-

    It could be:-

    1. The Beo5 has had a hardware failure which is best tested by creating a very simple configuration with a couple of standard channel logos and downloading it. If the channel logos display without a problem, then it is clearly not a hardware fault.
    2. The icons are not in the correct format or have become corrupt
    3. The Beo5 Firmware has become corrupt.

In my view item 1 is the most likely and also easy to test.

When I connect it to the dock for software d/l

it flashes on and off with this screen. .

it's off to the repair shop. . hopefully a new one will be coming. .

My two Beo5 drain battery dramatically! But not all the time. They are about one year old. I have reset them both and reinstalled my configuration but after a while it happened again. Could it be an error in my config file?

    Re: Problem with 3.87

Whilst you could have a problem in your configuration file particularly if it includes third party products which use RAW, there is a generally known problem acknowledged by B&O with the firmware version associated with 3.87 which can drain the battery.

There is a new release which is likely to be seen before the end of this year which hopefully will resolve the issue and a few others.
