    Beosound 9000 MK2 Testing

    Hi There,

I'm thinking about buying a secondhand Beosound9000 Mk2. I’m a bit scared about buying it, because I’m not really sure if it's really a good one.. i mean, I don't know about the history and quality about this Beosound.

I just wanted to ask, if there is an option or service Commands on the System /Beo4 to check the Health of the Beosound9000. Somebody told me, you can check the System by using a service - test - mode, just to see, if everything is fine with it.

Can anybody help me about that? Or any other recommendations before buying a BS9000 ?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Tom

    Re: Beosound 9000 MK2 Testing

    Tom,

The Beosound 9000 has more "Test Modes" than almost any other B&O product, it has 74 tests to be exact as follows:-

    Tuner test modes

TM 01: Automatic offset-adjustment for FM
TM 02: Manual offset-adjustment for FM
    TM 03: Status for offset-adjustment
    TM 04: Variant status
    TM 06: Check RDS name
TM 07: Setting up of tuner variant

    Master test modes
TM 20: Test of display functions
    TM 21: Open ML-out
TM 22: Test of keyboard functions
    TM 23: Software version
    TM 24: Service operation counter
    TM 25: Open ML-in
TM 27: Service of error detection
TM 28: Validity test for ROM/RAM/EEPROM
    TM 31: Set default settings
TM 32: Read-out of product ID
    TM 34: Read-out of options
    TM 35: Power down ON
    TM 36: Power down OFF

    CD test modes
    TM 61: Focus on
    TM 62: Focus off
    TM 63: Starts turntable motor
    TM 64: Stops turntable motor
TM 65: Light pen to outermost position
TM 66: Light pen to the innermost position
    TM 67: Starts CD
    TM 68: Stops CD
TM 71: Mechanical test of fi nger protection, sledge and led
    TM 73: Adjustment of autopositioning
TM 74: Safeguard level set to max

    Regards Keith....

    Re: Beosound 9000 MK2 Testing

By the time you have put it through all these test modes you will be a good deal older and back on 20 a day!

I suggest that you put CD's in positions 2 and 6. Select position 2 which should start playing. Select RANDOM via remote or via the keyboard if no remote. Does it play tracks from both CD positions? Does it move smoothly between the 2 CD's? (Other than when it is initially checking for the presence of CD's)

Other than checking that the radio works( I have never known one that didn't!) that is pretty much it.

    Regards Graham

Well, the test modes count is more like: 30, not 74... and not all of them are tests anyway. I'd suggest at least looking at TM27.

OTH, I really like [JBG]'s process above... pretty straightforward and covers 90%+.

    Hey Guys,

Thank you very much, that was really helpfull for me. Just a quick Question... When im entering the Service Test mode, how can i select this single Testing steps?

    TM27 p.Ex. ?

    Regards,

    Tom

Take my advice, don't get involved with the test modes, particularly TM27. You will not get sensible data and it will only serve to confuse.

It either works or it doesn't!

If it works and you want it, buy it. If it doesn't and you can't fix it, walk on by.

    Regards Graham

    Re: Beosound 9000 MK2 Testing

    I agree with joey here.

I have been a Beosound 9000 owner for about 2 weeks now. The big question was if I could live with a cd player that can take 6 discs or get a BC2 which can do cd or dvd. The price for a secondhand Beosund 9000 is about the same so it comes down to your needs.

In general 10 years for a B&O product should not worry a consumer and no dealers are going to say that it can't be serviced either.

What I did do was a bit of research here on Beoworld. I found one that said: cleaning required for alot less than the others were going for. Now the solution is standing in one of the manuals so I went and got it.

It turns its an early MKIII with netradio and pincode. The seller did not play cd's for the last few years so I cleaned the glass on both sides and it has been working great since.

Can I recommend it? Yes if you have use for it otherwise no. There is so many options with B&O products these days so look at your needs.

I definitely agree with bought of you guys,

Some random and basic checks will do it. if it works, it works. If not later on, i will fix it. :-) NO Doubt, I’m going to buy that one.

Tanks for support… and keep on „listening B&O“ in the Free World.

It was written as a help for previous poster having trouble with the English language, so totally OK.

(online translators are absolute not acurate in text translation) So; afthere reading a message from the past hear. i was not sure if i have real good understand it: that the BéO service repare will not do fix older Systems older more than 10 year.

by the way, i have never learning english at shool.
