    BL3 vs. BL6000/11

I need some speakers for my loft (about 45sqm). Not my main setup but one that I will use intensively. I could be offered either of the following pre-owned, both at a similar price:

    - either a pair of BL3

    - or a combo BL6000 + BL11

Any thoughts on what would produce the best balanced (full and detailed) sound at moderate volume?

    Cheers, js

    Beolab 3 for sure!

    Bl 6000 isn't a good main loudspeaker.

    Re: BL3 vs. BL6000/11

It really depends on the type of music. The BL3 are going to be better balanced but the 6000/11 set up will be able to go much lower. So really depends on the type of music you like.

I have never had a set of 3' but I do have BL6000, BL4000 MKI and a BL11 and I must say the BL11 makes a huge difference. I initialy didn't think it would add much to my system but it was night and day.

    Have you thought of BL4000 + BL11

Sonically I think the Beolab 3 is far superior to the Beolab 6000. I would choose Beolab 3's with Beolab 11.

    Re: BL3 vs. BL6000/11

I do have the same problem.

As every music room has their  own acoustic issues , it seems to me impossible to choose which speakers will really match my expectations in a  store. Do dealers give the possiblity of trying the different types of available speakers in your home?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: BL3 vs. BL6000/11

I do have BL3 in my main room (~35sqm) and BL6000 in my office room (~12sqm) next to the main room.

I was choosing the BL3 over BL4000 at time I bought them as the sound is much clearer. I also do not feel that any Bass is missing. They are simply very good and I am usually listening not too loud.

Then I bought the BL6000 from Lifestyle Av because I did not want to spend lot of money on mew speakers. For the office they are just wonderful. For the main room they (alone) would not be sufficient I think. Some weeks ago I was listening BL4000 with and without BL11 (Dealer has a testwall for easy switch on/off the BL11). The difference is amazing!!

To summarize: I think the BL3 make a much clearer (more technical?) soundstage. Think this comes from the acustic lenses. The BL6000 are warmer, but suffer from Bass and are not so clear. With a BL11 you can solve the Bass issue. If you prefer the warmer or clearer sound is up to you.
