I'll go with iPod Dock too - that looks like a USB lead at the rear...

Re: What is this ? --- ;)
I don't think that is a USB lead, but a two pin DIN. The size of the B&O logo is alll wrong for that. I think that logo is the same as the one on a BeoVox 5000, which would make this item quite small. When you plug a Beovox 2500 (cube) into a BeoVox 5000, or 3800, it cuts out the tweeters in the big speaker. I think this could be some sort of testing device in place of an expensive cube. Probably way off, but there you go.

Re: What is this ? --- ;)
My first guess it's a box for the replacement stylus. Then again, it seems to big for that... I haven't got a clue actually

It's one of those iPod docks with Datalink capability (I can't remember who makes them) in a box with the badge from a Beovox 500 glued to the front.

Re: What is this ? --- ;)
Interesting guessing and some really close / correct.
This is an iPhone docking for the classic Beolab 5000. I have used a rosewood cartridge box to have a true B&O product for this purpose or to be correct ½ a box.
I have been looking for a black mini docking with line out for a long time and I found it. I think black is the color to use with rosewood.

Re: What is this ? --- ;)
I have made this docking because for me it ‘is not possible’ to use any kind of standard docking for a classic product like the Beolab 5000. I had to accept the use of the cartridge box. I have asked the specialist who help me with cabinet / wood restorations to do the job – his name is Gunner Nygaard and I think he has done a very good job.
The B&O logo is the same as the logo on the original cartridge box. I like also very much the classic B&O styling effect - the black bottom part
For me this is a dignified solution for using an iPhone togehter with the classic Beolab 5000 system.

By using the iPhone 3GS and downloading two app’s I have a full Wi-Fi functionality of listening to all the radio channels on the internet and playing my own music from the NAS-Server.
The app’s I am using is: Tuneln Radio and PlugPlayer

A very nice solution Frede! This is the way forward to keep those classic tuners and amplifiers going after the proposed demise of FM. I hope B&O themselves will realise that there is a market for a product specifically intended to extend the life of their classic equipment. Hopefully the proposed B&O iPhone dock will be able to plug into both ancient and modern!
You've now made me wonder whether I should disguise or embelish my cylindrical Roku/Pinnacle NRadio unit ......... but in practice it sits very happily alongside my BM2000 (1970's) restored by Martin.

Oh, that's nice. I thought the box for the replacement stylus was smaller. Were they in different sizes?

Re: What is this ? --- ;)
As it seems to involve quite a bit of carpentery anyway, I think I'd rather mill/route it out of a solid block of wood instead of destroying a nice original B&O box... but perhaps they are plentiful somewhere else than here!
Looks very good in any case

Re: What is this ? --- ;)
That is such a great idea!
I have a few dock ideas that I have wanted to do for a while, but with my schedule, they will probably have to wait until next summer
BTW Frede, Could you please identify the dock for us? The line out feature is something a lot of us have been looking for.

I Googled something like --- iPhone docking line out --- and found several hit even in my own country and prices are very low about 100 DKK. I also found an Apple version with remote control (fine smal Apple device) for only 300.- DKK.

I do have the apple product and it is indeed good. I just need about 3 more docks, without remote and no volume control/line out
Thank you Frede!

Re: What is this ? --- ;)
Frede! Please tell me the B&O logo is the same as the one on BeoVox 5000. At least some of my answer will be correct!
