    Would it be criminal........

Im so tempted to buy this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/beovision-9000-rosewood-cabinet-bang-and-olufsen-tv-/170543984820?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Televisions&hash=item27b536b0b4

But only because I've always wanted to have a fish tank in an old TV cabinet and that would be perfect. You could even link the light up so it came on when you opened the door. But would it be criminal to buy it and just rip the tv out and put it in a skip. I dont think so as it may well not work and even if it does its about as much use as a chocolate tea pot these days.

If it works it would be criminal! The picture on these sets is fantastic. If the tube has gone, I suppose it would at least be being used!

To be honest I think it would just look like a fish tank cabinet! I have seen some great smaller telly conversions with all knobs intact etc.. however when tanks start getting that small then fish end up suffering.

Oh I wouldn't trust those legs to take the weight of all that water either!

Have to agree, these older sets do have fantastic picture quality.

Dunno about that - these sets weigh a ton so a fish tank shouldn't be a problem.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

    Re: Would it be criminal........

Just had a quick look the telly is W x H x D 79.5 x 48 x 48 cm not including stand, and the overall weight is 42 k. If you wanted to fill the space with a tank, lets say the size of the screen which I will guess approximately 60cm wide? I will assume that the tank is 10 cm short of the top to allow access (although this not really enough) so that would be W60 x h38 x w48 which would be about 110 litres. 1 ltr of water weighs approxinately 1 kg you can see that is over twice the weight of the original set!

You could always go for something like this... Stick out tongue

The ad says that he's selling it for a good friend......... goes on to describe where it's been and its history.......... then says he can't say whether it's working. Did he drop it getting out of his friends apartment?

I suspect that conversion to a fish tank would be less satisfactory than perhaps envisaged  Beaker, but let's have some pictures if you go ahead!

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Loving the pictures!! The tank wouldnt be the full depth of the set s the weight could be kept at reasonable levels. But if the fish is of the size in Lee's pictures then there could be a problem.
