beogram 3000 datalink, what's the trick?

SmileHi all!  I received my Beogram 3000 today in the mail.  I couldn't wait to set it up.  I bought it to replace a 1602 that I have been using for the past year.  I have it hooked up to my Beocenter 9000.  I thought I could use datalink to control the turntable with my beolink 1000.  But it seems to do nothing.  Manually the deck plays very well, so for that I'm glad!  I've never had a turntable with such a thick black cord for the din.  It is black, and terminates to 5 pins.  Is there a button or switch I need to toggle?  Could it be the reciever, or more likely the deck.  \

    Please provide me your expertise!!!

If you only have 5 pins you need to mount two extra pins for datalink communication.
They screw into tiny threaded holes and will become new outermost pins in the DIN (positions 6 and 7).

Ahhhh!  Thank you Dillen.  There are  two empty holes to put pins into.  Where in the world would I find them?

Might be worth asking your nearest Dealer. You never know.

Do you have another Datalink product? Only one pin is actually used so you can unscrew the non active one and put it in the Beogram. Interestingly non RIAA Beograms use the opposite pin to all other devices.

Send me your address on a PM and I'll pop one in the post for youSmile

Not sure which hole you need to put it in but I'm sure you'll guess easily enough - there's only 2 choices - but according to sod's law the chances are you'll get it wrong 1st time round.Laughing
