    Beosound 3 control problems

    Hi,

After letting it slip my mind for the best part of a year I happened to be passing my B&O dealer today, and I remembered that my Beosound 3 is broken - the controls stop working and it turns itself on and off.  I remember reading here that this was a 'known' problem, so my question is thus:

Does anyone know if this is a recognised B&O problem, pertinent to a particular manufacturing run, and moreover, if this is the case, will/should B&O fix it FOC, regardless of time lapsed, etc.

I'd certainly like to think so, as I've spent enough on my various toys over the years, but better to be safe than sorry...

    Thanks in advance,

    Nick

PS:  Had a demo of the BV7-55 and BL5s whilst I was in there.  Am now saving, again. Thanks Dave :)

Had mine repaired as a "warranty" issue about 3/4 months ago. It is one of the early ones so well out of guarantee but the dealer had no problems doing this at all as it is a know problem.

    Re: Beosound 3 control problems

I have 2, and early model and one bought about 1.5 years ago.  The 1st broke about a year ago, the 2nd broke a few days ago.  1st fixed under warranty.  2nd is currently in the shop and also covered by warranty.  Surprizingly, the tech said "wow, these things never break", but maybe he was just talking his book.

I'm more bothered by this 2nd failure because it makes me think maybe none of them will last, and even the fixed ones will break before too long - the failure was well known 1.5 years ago, and I assumed fixed...  Then again, the 2nd failure was very different (1st: became possessed - turn on/off by itself, volume control changed radio stations, etc.  2nd: it only responded to "stby" - in that I could hear the "tink" and it would show the time/not show the time, that's it.) so maybe the problems are unrelated.  The 1st one was probably fixed ~ 1 year ago and is still going strong...

Indeed a recognized problem, your dealer should fix it for you without cost. B&O has actually stopped shipping BS3´s as a result of the faulty topplate.

    Good luck
