    Beovox S75

I have some Beovox S75 and they are hooked up as reqar speakers to my Avant/BS3000 setup via an old Hitachi Amp. They sound amazing and in fact in some ways I prefer the sound to the BL4000 that act as fronts. I use them a lot for music with Speakers 4 turned on and their volume turned up. The only problem is that there is a slight almost like rattle/vibration/distortion noise from one of them - looking at the drivers they all appear in tact and i can't quite make out where the noise is coming from - does this sound like the capacitor issue others have talked about or could it be the amplifier (as I'm typing I'm thinking I'll swap them over tonight to find out if it is the amp).

I'm not sure how to trouble shoot this so any help would be much appreciated.

I doubt it is capacitors, though they may well benefit from a change by now. I would check to see if there is anything loose inside. Easy enough to do - just remove the bass driver. A pair of S60s I had rattled and it turned out the ferrite core of one of the coils on the cross over had loosened. Just stuck it back in and it is doing fine service still for Tim!

By the way, not surprised you think these are better than Beolab 4000s. This era of loudspeakers were extremely good!

Great, thanks I'll check out the insides of the one that's rattelling - it was hearing Tims when he reapired a friends TV that made me dig them out and am now listening to them all the time - I think I need the 4400 receiver next.

    Best Wishes

I have had the same problem with my S75's. Turned out to be a vibration between the cabinet and the front baffle (the black part that houses the speakers...not sure of the name). Haven't really bothered to fix it....just stuck a piece of cardboard in between the cabinet and the baffle and voila no vibration. With the dust covers on you can't see the cardboard. I wouldn't mind repairing them properly but it does seem a bit tricky

Had the same problem after had refoamed a pair of M75's. That turned out to be a small metal bush the the wires on the driver pass through.

    Re: Beovox S75

I have seen what Craig describes in many S75's.
The flex leads that run from the cone to solder tags on the metal basket runs through
isolated rivets mounted to the metal basket.
The rivets inner lip breaks off and travels down the flexible lead that moves with the cone.
    This causes rattling and distortion.
Sometimes the outer part falls off too, which sees the solder tag floating freely, only held
    by the flex lead.
Usually fixable using a good two-comp. epoxy glue. Don't glue the flex lead if you can avoid it.

I have exactly the problem described with a MS150.2, undergoing maintenance by the person I bought the set from. Let me just say that is has a quite large collection of B&O, which he has restored to perfection.
