Calling all RedLine owners for some assistance

    Hi All,

After much searching on and off for the past year I'm very close to getting a BeoVox RedLine strap replacement as close to the original as possible, as you know these are often broken or missing.

I'm calling on the help of current RedLine owners who have the original straps intact. I'm basically trying to clarify the correct printed wording for the different speaker models, if you have a pair of either :

    RL1000

    RL2000

    RL6000

    RL7000

All the models where the 'red' stripe around the case frame became 'silver', did B&O change the colour of the printing on the straps to match the stripe?

As all the ones I have of the above seem to have no wording at all. But I know for a time replacements were available without wording.

So just incase anyone does still have some originals could you please confirm what the printing on the strap says and what colour the printing is. For example I have 2 versions for the RL140s one says 'RL140' the other says 'REDLINE 140'

Your help would be much appreciated

    Have a good weekend

    Cheers

    Jay

I have a pair of black (silver line) RL6000's and they have no lettering whatsoever.

Can't be sure if the straps are original, but judging from the rest of the lot I got there, the PO's wouldn't have paid a dime to replace them. Silver lettering on a light grey strap doesn't sound too plausible either, so perhaps B&O just dropped the lettering altogether with the new colours to avoid having several strap types in the inventory. That would support having only "blank" replacements as well.

Sounds like a nice project !

I currently have a pair of white design RL140's here.
They have a silver line around the cabinets (where the more common black speakers have a red line).
The straps read "RED LINE 140" in the same red as the others.

    Hi Martin,

Ive never seen the 140s in white

sounds like i may have to do you a bespoke set with Black lettering if you think they would suit them more

Dunno if this helps Jay, but this is how the original straps on my 60.2's look like. I presume these are a very early pair as the crossover has been built on chipboard, the later ones have real PCB's as far as I know.

Great minds and all that, Leslie Laughing The print on mine is only 19 mm wide.

I should add that my RL6000s don't have any print at all.

I had two pairs of RL6000s, both piano black with silver stripe. Neither had any lettering on the straps from brand new.

    hi Jay

The 2 I have here, broken straps, the left pieces, clear (milky) soft PVC.

Did you find out about hot stamping or screen printing, the pics here on this thread looks like hot stamping.

I'm not sure if there's a definative answer here Jay.

I seem to remember B&O having to drop the name "redline" part way through production & simply call this speaker range "RL" due to some copyright infringement so there may be more than one version. Personally I would simply use the "RL" prefix and call it a day.

I'd also give prospective customers a choice of text (or not) for the RL*000 series for that personal touch. PS - I'll be wanting some RL45.2 & RL60.2 ones shortly.

Thanks everyone for all your help, just the information i needed.

Chris, thats exactly what i was thinking (although its easy for me to say that after youve said it Whistle ) regarding the customer choice on the RL*000

Once ive produced the metal printing plates for each variation and recieved the hot foil stamping machine ill be able to see how they turn out.

Although im tempted to just print 'Jay rocks' on all of them and have done with it Laughing

    Thanks again everyone

Re: Calling all RedLine owners for some assistance

This will probably make B&O devotees shudder, but some years ago when my original straps snapped I replaced them with ordinary ribbon of the same width and colour. Still there and still look fine to me! I got extra ribbon at the time in case it was needed, but so far it's not.

Because ribbon is so flexible it's not subject to the same strains and problems as the original material.

Of course there's nothing printed on but in my opinion that's no problem.

    Others may disagree!!
