    Bang & Olufsen Beosound 24ct

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound 24ct gold & Diamond Edition is world’s most expensive music center for $1.8 million

Adding on to his list of ‘world’s most expensive’ is the latest Bang & Olufsen Beosound 24ct gold & Diamond Edition. Exclusively designed by Stuart Hughes, this bespoke system is crowned as the most expensive music center and the £1.2 million ($1,850,000) price tag certainly justifies it. Shaped out of 32 kilograms of solid 24ct gold, the system is also decked with 70 diamonds of 0.75 carat along with Aventurine and Topaz gemstones. The whole Beosound system along with speakers is plastered with handmade solid gold veneer. Only five such units will be made and make sure that you place your order much in advance as it takes about seven months to put up the Bang & Olufsen Beosound 24ct gold & Diamond Edition. Golden melodies doled out by this gold and diamond music system will certainly be a treat for audiophiles. For once listeners can also enjoy the blinged visual extravagance too!

and diamond styli wreck the LPs (oops, do I mean CDs ?)

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Actually that brings up a good point!

Looking at the pics again -the diamonds consume the areas for the pyramidal sensors??? I assume they actually tested the "refurbished" 9000's?

Can B&O sue them for defamation of design??

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

They are hideous, but I'm sure there are equally hideous locations where they will fit just brilliantly (pardon the pun)...

Interesting how you can take 3 very desirable products (B&O, Diamonds & Gold) & turn them into something so incredibly tasteless. I'll wait down at our local tip for when the buyers of this rubbish get bored & decide to sling it.

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

The photos look beautiful against the black backdrop.

I'm sure it plays better too; Just like the red calipers that make my Porsche go faster.

    To each his own.

For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen..

Re: Bang & Olufsen Beosound 24ct

If you're going to go that far, do you not think it'd be an idea to get speakers and a music system which matched aesthetically?  The BeoLab 8000 is exactly the same height as the 9000 on a floor stand..  Any goon who Googles the BeoSound 9000 would see an image of them together!!

As for what has been done to them - what a waste of gold and diamonds.  Looks awful - and is the audio equivalent of coating a BMW 318i in bling..  Why not do all that to a pair of BeoLab 5's if you really have to.  At least then the sound would match the frankly stupid price tag.

Only my opinion though.  I'm sure there's someone out there, either with a hairy chest and a medallion (plus a lottery winners cheque) or a bank account with more zeros than a binary convention who will love this.  I don't - but even if i did, i couldn't afford half a speaker !!

If you spend 1,8 milion for a stereo you wouldn't buy a high-end?

I would spend less money for gold and more for a better stereo. B&O is good, but no high-end.

32kg of gold is 1,024 ounces.  At $2,000 per oz. that would make it worth $2,048,000.  So it's worth over $2 mill. without the diamonds?  What a bargain..
