Decision made, shall be Beovox S120, now where...

After some very good advise on this forum I  would like to get some Beovox S120's to go with my Beosound 3000, MCL2P amp, only problem is that being new to this I am not sure of the best place to source these. None on EBay, can anyone give me some advise on the best place to locate these, and recommend any honest B&O classic equipment sellers.

They are excellent speakers. I myself have some of the later MC120.2s. There's a pair on German eBay at the moment, though I think they need refoaming. Not a difficult job and these don't come up that often.

I would agree with John - having heard his!  Unfortunately they are very rare in the UK, almost invariably suffer from foam rot and never include the appropriate stands.  I've been looking for a pair for what seems like an age, and am tempted by the ones on German Ebay myself. However, I would really want to inspect and listen, so I will probably continue to wait  - hopefully.

I'm the lucky owner of a S120 pair in white and I love them.

Dillen was doing service on my S80.2 also white and the S120 came up for sale. So he got them and serviced them too.

I can highly recommend both pairs but the S120 series has more overall more bass to it.

They are smaller than M150 so whats the problem?

    They do sound as great.

Found a pair of S120.2 with stands for £150, new grills, is that the right sort of money?

I would happily pay that for a pair which don't need any remedial work and are in good condition. Do you mean they have new grills (frets) or they have been refoamed?

I would doubt if the capacitors in the crossovers have been replaced though and this is a job really worth doing. They are excellent speakers but really come to life even more with a recap'.

I also have a pair of the later MC120.2's in white wall mounted (the arrival of grand kids made stand mounting out of the question). They aren't imposing at all.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Base drivers surrounds have been replaced and coils overhauled, whatever that means?? and new frets, top of cabinets a little faded, but have original stands.

That means that the speakers are re-foamed Smile

Nice speakers! I don't own them, but I went for a totally reconstructed pair of mint MS150.2's I bought with an equally overhauled Beomaster 8000 Stick out tongue

You can restore the cabinets fairly easily - just takes a bit of elbow grease. Look in the Jarman's book and it shows you how. If you do it will wire wool, remove the drivers or the metal will get into the magnets!

It means somebody has done THIS.

I'll never part with my S120s. Wonderful speakers!

For a properly re-foamed pair with new capacitors in Rosewood on the correct stands I'd be willing to pay a lot more!

I hope they meet your expectations

Interesting fact - the stands for the S120 have the same bracket spacing as those on the S45-2 etc. Different height - I attach a picture of S45s on the normal stands and also S120 stands. You can fit S120s on S45 stands though the rubber stop tends to go to the DIN connector! Shows why having it to one side makes sense! The MS150s are really annoying in this respect!
