Speaker advise please... 4000's or 6000's

Hi, looking to get some speakers to go with my Beosound 3000 as ex has the Beolab 8000's!!!! Money is tight to say the least! Can anyone comment on the difference in sound quality, bass performance between the Beolab 4000's and 6000's??? To be honest a second hand pair of those is stretching me, is there anything a little older, Beovox???, that will compliment the system? We dont have the sound blasting, but like quality of sound and a bit of base, taste ranges from White stripes to Cat Stevens and a whole load in between. As always, any help appreciated.

The 4000s are the most similar in terms of sound, I would imagine, if you are trying to "compliment" the 3000s.

Beyond that, you leave a lot to the imagination, especially when considering BeoVox.

If you like the 3000s, maybe add or trade up to the 5000s. Similar sound character but with additional bass.

Sorry a bit vauge I know, just wondered if there was a £300 option out there for the time being or shall I just as the nice man at the bank for a set of 4000's or 6000's. Anyone tried Beovox CX100 and Quad 405 amp, with Beosound 3000????

If you are looking for good value, consider a MCL2P and some S45-2 s or S120s if you want more bass. Both will give far more accurate sound than CX100s and in my opinion will sound better than BL6000s as well.

If the choice is limited between 4000 or 6000. I would go with the 4000, I have both, but the 4000 sounds so nice and balanced. Plus the 4000 can go on a wall, a stand or on small cabinet stands.

Re: Speaker advise please... 4000's or 6000's

I'm a little confused here, if you have pair of nice playing and looking BEOLAB 3000, why do you want BL 4000, sound is nearly the same.

If you have a BEOSOUND 3000 its another mather, BL 4000 plays good with that one, but if you want BEOVOX you will need an amplifier.

But if I had to choose BL 4000 or 6000, I would go for BL 8000 from E-bay, check the serial numbers, 8 digits 2 first is year code.

    09- 19994, 10- 1995 15- 2000 and so on, prices in good condition $ 2.000 to 2.500 depending year and condition

Beosound 3000, BL 4000, BL 8000, BG 2404,BG 5000, BG CD50, Beocord 5000, BM 901, BM 2400, BM 4000, BV S45, BV 3702. There is nothing we cannot do, but a lot of things we don't want to do!!

Sorry, Beosound 3000 unit, only at the moment, running through onkyo amp and mission m34 speakers. Not ideal for the purist hence the speaker help needed. Can get 2nd hand pair of 6000's for around £700 and the 4000's are around the same price, just wanted to know that if I was going to splash the cash which of those 2 is the best. The other option is to do it for around £300 and not get into debt. Thanks for everyones advise, going to have a look at the all the speakers suggested tonight and see what might suit. Ta
