External Agency appointed for B&O October product launch

This announcement suggests that B&O is going 'In a new direction' with an unspecified new product in October. Anyone know just what the product might be?

I agree there is an iPod dock coming but there also was mention of Beolabs 6002 and 8002 in the financial report.

6002 & 802 are likely to break cover sooner than October.  And they are more a 'refinement/update' than a 'new direction' or a 'new product launch', don't you think?

    Just to stir the pot...

B&o rather quietly trademarked the term "BEOCLASSIC" just a few months ago.

No big deal, right? After all, it is just a component of the online "BEOLOUNGE" which was also trademarked by them a few years ago.

Well, the "goods and services" component of the trademark are rather different...

    "BEOCLASSIC" refers to <electronic devices> (i.e.) physical products and <networked information> (i.e.) website.

"BEOLOUNGE" refers only to <networked information> (i.e) website.

    Hmm

Beolab 8002 and beolab 6002 don't seem to be going into such a "new direction"... but nice to see them updated

How about a competitively priced, flute-inspired clock that also doubles as a remote? They'll sell shed loads. Oh dear :(

Re: External Agency appointed for B&O October product launch

    This is what I expect in 2010 / 2011.

October: new major audio product. The product originaly planned for q4 2010

    November: BeoVision 10 - 32"

December: Ipod dock. Just in time for X-mas

Q3 : new ALT speaker to fit in between BL3 and BL9. Something like BL5000 would be nice. They could use their experince from automotive.

    Q4 : New BeoVision maybe BV10 - 52" / 55"

This is what I expect but what do you think? And can you imagine Kalle Hvidt in a pair of blue jeans and a black T - shirt launching new products......

    It´s not magic - it´s Bang & Olufsen

Just thought that this new product is likely to be the Beosound 5 lite, or Link room "client" for beosound 5. That had been announced a while ago, but we haven't seen it yet.

In the menu of some TVs there is a reference to VIDEOLIB, and we still don't know what that is as well.

    Hmm

So no more of this new CD/DVD/BR/Internet/Streaming nonsense. Back to basics.

From now on its "classic" vinyl only!?!

Who knows? ...or rather: why not? Big Smile

I think that with the revival of vinyl...

How about a brand new BEOCLASSIC BG4005 BG5 priced ~$1500USD?

    I'd bet they would outsell the ~$5,000USD BS5 100:1

The iPod dock is old news and not ground breaking. Think Beosound 5 lite as the man said - but lite may not be what you think. Should be more in tune with what we want.

Yes, I hope it will be a Video Library which is shown as VIDEOLIB in the connection menue of my BV10-40. Means an external video machine with harddisk, blueray, ipod dock, network connection, usb-port and the possibility of streaming videos.

    Ok, it´s only a dream...

So it will be an ipod dock without ML and Apple´s new AirPlay. The truth is poor for B&O and hard for us!

But secretsheep (above post) suggest that it's not the ipod dock and that Beosound 'Lite +' is more likely. Just need to wait to see what the '+' involves!
