I have a BeoSound 2000 (US), and am going back to using the active antenna with integrated handle.  I remember something about setting something to activate (power up) the antenna circuitry, but I can't remember the details nor find the instructions for this.  This seems confirmed by its inability to pick up many stations.

Do any of you remember what the trick is to activating the antenna, or is there no such thing after all?

No such thing as as far as I know - it's not an active antenna.  Unplug it and use a dipole antenna that you can purchase on eBay instead.  You'll get much better reception.

I sit corrected - apprently it is.  To make sure the BS is set up for active antenna mode,  Press . (standby), then TUNE, 1, STORE.  The digit  1 will be briefly displayed.    

I always used a dipole antenna iwth mine and got good results.
