Beomaster 8000 - where to put the antenna?

got a beomaster 8000 that came with the original antenna, it's the old type:

I managed to connect it below the lid but now don't know wher to place the antenna, is there a fixing somewhere that holds the antenna or is it meant to be hidden behind the Beomaster?

If it's got the standard Beomaster aerial plug-in slot it should be sticking out at the back of the unit and should be very obvious. Probably some owners removed them (two screws) if using an external aerial connection.

yes it seems that part is missing.

it will be pretty much impossible to find it somewhere I think?

Might be a case of having to buy a complete non-working BM on eBay just to salvage the part. Unless someone else knows better, I think they are all the same regardless of exact model. Looking at a couple of my BMs, the holder seems to be two parts of moulded plastic with a central fixing screw. Probably easy to fabricate something similar, but a cheap purchase on eBay must be the easier option (except for those postal charges if not local to you!)

I never saw an antenna holder on a BM8000 but I do have the odd part lying around.
If someone could provide a photo, I will take a look in the dungeons.

Or, instead of making your streamlined Beomaster look like there's an alien ant skulking behind it, forget about the holder and keep the antenna out of view Wink

EDIT: didn't see the pic on the first way round. Looks exactly the same as the original antenna on my BM4400, which on the other hand seems to have the exactly same slotted holder as any other Beomasters I have (that have one).

Most BeoMasters and BeoCenters had a possibillity to mount this antenna on the back. But I can't seem to find any fixing possibilities for the antenna on any of my BeoMasters 8000. So I think it is not possible to mount this antenna on BeoMaster 8000....Sad

I've got several  vintage BMs, but not the 8000, so the BM8000 seems to be the exception to the rule. So the antenna with the OPs 8000 is probably not original equipment. Unless someone does have an 8000 with antenna mount........................!

(Good news for Mika, who seems to get very upset by these ant like or antler like 'prongs'!)

Wink They don't upset me - I just think that those prongs sticking up from behind a device destroy the looks, even worse than some speaker or power cords lying around.

If the BM8000 ever was supposed to have the antenna holder, I suppose the screw hole(s) for it should be visible somewhere. The user manual doesn't mention it at all...

    Hi

I have about 15 of these amps and the 4 or so I have in use do not have the slot and I can't remember ever seeing one so its possible that the master 8000 never had a slot. The beomaster 6000 definitely did.Hope this helps

Yes, this antenna goes to a Beomaster 6000, not an 8000. No place for it on an 8000.
