    Beogram 9500 preamp help

I have acquired an almost mint Beogram 9500 which doesn't have an internal phono amp.  I have a Soundsmith SMMC1 cartridge and am trying to setup a Musical Surroundings phono preamp.  However I don't exactly understand the switch settings.  Is there someone out there who knows about these things who can look at the instructions and tell me what the settings should be?  It would be most appreciated.  Thanks, Bill

    Re: Beogram 9500 preamp help

Well most pre amps just have a switch to set it to either MM or MC. In that case you would set it to MM. Reading the following in the link you sent.

Lower gains (40 and 44 dB) are intended for moving magnet cartridges or
very high output moving coil cartridges (2.0 milliVolts or higher). These
would include the Benz MC20E2, Silver, Glider High Output and H2O.

I'd set it to 40 or 44dB. Just see which is the best out if the two.
