    Home Cinema Project

    Hello All

I would like to clear up a few things before i go ahead and order my -238 box

I have a BV7 connected to to a optoma Projector, Currently when i press format 0 to activate the external disaplay i manually power on the projector.

This in turn activates the panoview motorised screen as its connected by a 12volt feed.

I want to connect the cinema pins from my BV7 to a lintronic -238 box.

Now from what i understnad you can connect the digital input of the lintronic to the digital output pins of the BV7 which will act as a trigger

now i have the ILight system that responds to beo4 light commands.

this can also work with RS232.

    so what i want it

    Press format 0 and

the tv switches to display 2
lights Dim, Via RS232 or IR
Projector comes on and Screen Drops

    my questions are:

Can i use the digital inputs of the AUX port to conenct to the BV7 or just the communication port?

How can I connect the RS232 of the Ilight at the same time as the computer for testing (if possible)?

Do i have to configure the device while connected to the computer then change to the ilight?

Other option is to connect Rs232 to computer with a split cable and the BV7 at the same time and control the light via IR.

Does the -238 learn remote signals if they are not in the memory?

"Can i use the digital inputs of the AUX port to conenct to the BV7 or just the communication port?"

Yes, the specs say it is possible. But I recommend to use the communication port. Just get a 9 pin cable, cut it, and solder two 3,5 mm stereo jacks to the pins for digital inputs and outputs. Solder a mono jack for RS 485 connection and the Dsub9 plug for RS232. Now connect the cinema out of the BV7 (DSUB9) to digital in of the -238 box (stereo 3,5 mm plug). In this way the AUX port is free for other applications - I use it for an X10 mains switch for my projector and the screen.

"How can I connect the RS232 of the Ilight at the same time as the computer for testing (if possible)?"

Won`t work, I`m afraid. You can`t split the RS232 port...(?) But I have programmed my (one of my...) -238 boxes, disconnected it from computer and connect it to my 108 relay board by RS232. Now the BV7 controls the projector, screen, light, curtains...

"Do i have to configure the device while connected to the computer then change to the ilight?"

Yes...see above. BTW, I`m highly interested in the ilight system. Do you have some information about the system...pricelist? Do you have the Ineo/Revio switches? And (I heard) they are Beo compatible?-controlable by Beo4/5? Does that work? - Thanks.

"Other option is to connect Rs232 to computer with a split cable and the BV7 at the same time and control the light via IR."

Afaik  you can`t split up RS232, but you can connect the BV7 via digital in to the Lintronic box and your ilight system via RS232 and control other devices by IR and digital outputs at the same time, just by configuring macros for the -238 box.

"Does the -238 learn remote signals if they are not in the memory?"

Yes, the -238 box can learn IR commands.

    Hope this helps

    Re: Home Cinema Project

    Hi there

Thanks for the reply i am now going to buy the lintronic -238 as soon as i free up some funds after my lab 9 purchase.

As for the I light i bought it years ago.

    I bought the SCI0405S for £401 its a 4x5amp inductive source controller

i then bought a 7 button bang and olufsen reciever (below) CRP073B

    this was £162.

    Pics to follow.

This thing is excellent and works fine for me. the lintronic also controls the ilight stuff so you could get the non bang and olufsen panels.

    Re: Home Cinema Project

Now i have looked into the lintronic more i think i would be able to control it via RS232 pins and having the input pins connected to the BV7.

I would then no longer need a B&o receiver i could get one of there lovely looking touch panels on the wall.

    Re: Home Cinema Project

Thanks for the information and the pics - looking for a dealer now....

And yes, as sid before, you can connect RS232 AND digital ins and outs at the same time. You just have to split up the 9 PIN cable.

BTW I just added some macros to my -238 box for the new LIGHT functions of the Beo4 navi: LIGHT - MORNING - SLEEP - TV VIEW....

    Works great.

    Re: Home Cinema Project

Sounds good, i bought my setup direct from ilight as they sell to the public.

Once i have my -238 i will swap over my Bang and Olufsen receiver for a nice touch panel one as i wont have any need for a dedicated Bang and Olufsen receiver.

I will program the -238 to receive Light commands and send out Ilight commands i just need to verify that the touch panels can receive IR.

Allthough i might also connect the RS232 of the -238 to the RS232 of the ilight (once programmed) and let it take care of the lights then dont need any IR sockets at all.

When programming the -238 do you make one large project or can you upload different projects so lets say

    Cinema Project

    Light Project

    and perhaps others.

Do know anyone selling a -238?

Unfortunately I`m not living in the U.K.

"Once i have my -238 i will swap over my Bang and Olufsen receiver for a nice touch panel one as i wont have any need for a dedicated Bang and Olufsen receiver."

Nice idea. You can also use the -238 box for IR reception.

"I will program the -238 to receive Light commands and send out Ilight commands i just need to verify that the touch panels can receive IR. Allthough i might also connect the RS232 of the -238 to the RS232 of the ilight (once programmed) and let it take care of the lights then dont need any IR sockets at all."

Connect the Lintronic box and the iight system via RS232. I do the same with my LT box and the 108 relay board.

"When programming the -238 do you make one large project or can you upload different projects so lets say Cinema Project Light Project and perhaps others."

At my "main" -238  box I have my cinema project with some additions from time to time. I then change the name of the configuration according to new functions and date. It`s fun.

"Do know anyone selling a -238?"

No, sorry. I ordered my 4 devices - 3x -238 boxes and 1x 108 relay board- directly from Michael. So you can be sure to get a new product with newest firmware and wrranty. BTW Michaels support is really great.
