Hi Graham.  I'm not a techie, and haven't done any testing, but looking at the dark colour of the PCB, looks like this bit got too hot.
    Is it a small transformer?

That is the standby transformer and they do burn out eventually. The symptom is no red led at plug in.

Either replace the transformer (requires soldering skills) or the complete transformer board is available from B&O and is a plug in job. The cost is not prohibitive but there are several versions available depending on the serial number of your speakers.

    Regards Graham

Cheers tony. I'll have a look, but guess it will be very heavy to send to France!

I'll pull it apart on Sunday.

    andy

on other pieces i have pulled apart there is also a fuse in the circuit to the stdby tranny - usually a small round piece about 3/8" diam and about the same height with 2 prongs underneathe which plug into the board if you check that first it maty save some toil - may be a vain hope!

    cheers

Re: Wanted:- Amp for Beolab 8000 speaker.

Ok, I took out PCB 1, and there is very little on it.
    2 fuses (both ok tony)
    1 Resistor
    1 Diode
    1 large Transformer
1 Relay (never been cleaned, still got sticker on)
    An L1 (whatever that is??)
1 small transformer 8013473 (suspect) This is a B&O component Tony, so unlikely to be available on your french component site.

The only reason I suspect it, is the dark colour as seen in my photo'.  Having looked more closely, this could be caused by the glue, and there may be nowt wrong with it after all!  It doesn't smell burnt out.

Anyone know how I can test it?

Transformer markings are probably bno stock nos it looks like a std drop down to 12v ac tranny with 2 x 110v inputs which bcan be series wired to take 220/240 v uk/europe

i'm back in uk early sept if no progress!

Re: Wanted:- Amp for Beolab 8000 speaker.

    Update.

It was indeed the stand-by transformer, thanks Joeyboygolf.
The PCB with the transformer on is £120 whereas the transformer alone is £34
It took me a long time, but I managed to desolder and cut away the glue removing the transformer.
Re soldered a new one in this evening
Thanks to Peter for the service manual and the help offered by Neil and Tony.

It was with great relief and smug self-satisfaction, that I pressed 'Speaker 5' again this evening.

    Thankyou allLeft Hug
