    Avant DVD fault

I have an Avant 8453 with a DVD fault. The drive plays normally for approx 1 minute then cuts out. Needs to be reset (TV to standby) to play again or eject. Engineer tried another salvage drive module and it did the same. A new chassis is required so uneconomic. Does anyone have experience of this fault? I recognise the policy is to swap modules but perhaps someone has experience of individual component failure leading to this "timing out" of the drive.

    Thanks for any advice

    David

Check the DVD power supply module - small switch mode supply in the bottom of the avant under the main chassis. It's a seperate part to the main chassis and a likely suspect.

    Re: Avant DVD fault

As a follow up for any AVANT DVD owners experiencing the same fault symptoms, this problem has been resolved.

It was caused by a faulty DVD power supply module (PCB 75).
