    Beomaster 1001 problem

    Hi guys

I yesterday picked up a Beomaster 1001 from a very nice gent who owned it from new in 1969. lol It's been in storage for the last 10 years!  Shocked Pretty cool looking tuner/amp I have to say and my first B&O. It switched on when I plugged it in which I thought was a victory in itself. lol Here's the problem though:
-It has lights for fm (when the radio's selected) and stereo when tuned into a station
-At extremely soft volumes, these lights work, but as soon as I turn it a little louder, the lights go out and then the sound cuts out as well.

If I then turn down the volume, the sound comes back and the lights go on again.

    Any ideas gents?  Huh

    Thanks in advance
    Craig

    Probably the main smoothing capacitor.
That'll be the large one sitting in a bracket at the end of the amplifier board.
    Mount a 6800uF 63V and you'll be fine.
