Beogram 5005/5500 LP- is the tonearm start position adjustable?

    Hi, everyone!

Faced the following trouble: when starting the vinyls with the wide empty edge (when the lead-in groove is 2-3 mm from the edge), the head slips off the vinyl, and falls down!

Is the starting point adjustable? I'm afraid, if these tricks continue, that will kill the MMC2.

    Many thanks!

    Dmitry

    Found the Service Manual.

Is it the Pickup Parallelism, that can adjust it?

Pick up arm set down position is  on page 5-3 of the manual.

Now I see there the Eccentric Disc "E", but cannot understand, where is it located- is it under the outer metal disc, covering the mechanism, or under the back panel, hiding the lid opening hooks?

It is inside the deck under the outer metal disc!

I suggest that you take some time to study the service manual at length. One wrong move could be costly.

OK- I see it on the picture.

There is an Eccentric disc (marked with "E"), and the directions are mentioned "IN" (counter-clockwise) and "OUT" (clockwise).

Will reach the Beogram tonight, and will check out alive.

    Will report on the results.

    Thank you very much!

Could not find that eccentric, provided by picture in the Service Manual.

Could someone explain, where should I look?

Seems it is somewhere at the right- near the tonearm. Is it reachable if I remove the metal disc and the plastic round cover?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

No, You won't find it unless you open the deck up. I get the impression that this could all end in tears. TAKE CARE

    Remove the silver platter

Slide the carriage over to the centre until it stops

Locate and remove the two Phillips headed screws under the right hand side of the deck

Carefully lift the right hand side of the deck which will open rather like the trunk of a car with the hinge being on the left hand side

You can now see the eccentric E at the rear right under the arm sliding carriage

    Good Luck

    Regards Graham

People are still driving LADA in this country! So hope, that keeped our @$$e$ away from our hands!;-)

Thank a lot for the detailed advise: I've noted that ingenious "trunk" fixing at the bottom, when only received the Beogram. Will try that today and keep posted. Think, there is a little adjustment needed- there is a 2mm tonearm position gap available, that is quite enough.

Re: Beogram 5005/5500 LP- is the tonearm start position adjustable?

    Dear Graham,

Thank you very much for the explanations!

Today I've opened the "trunk" easily (then it is necessary to move the tonearm back to the right side from the center to reach the Eccentric "E").

Then I turned the Eccentric 180 degrees, that moved the tonearm start position 2 mm inside (closer to the center of the disc).

Now the stylus catches the lead-in groove even at the nude-edged vynils.

    Great!
