    Should i Consider Change

    Hello All

I have a BV7 MK3 with Internal DVD, External APple TV, BluRay, Optoma Projector, 5.1, Sky HD

I have had a BV7 Since launch and normally update it every other model.

I love the Beosystem 3 functionality so i can use my external projector (Lintronic -238 is next purchase)

I have been thinking about how quickly TV advances and how behind my MK3 seems to be (bad panning, lack of LED Backlighting etc)

Would i be better off upgrading my tv to the MKV which offers 200Hz to reduce panning or waiting until the next version which might have HDMI 1.4 and 3D

or would i be better to buy the Beosystem 3 and BV4 so its cheaper / easier to upgrade different parts when needed.

Apparently Plasma would fix my panning issue, woudl this fix it on the projector as it comes from the BS3???

I am stuck with my choices i like the tidyness of the BV4 system but get annoyed with the Lack of upgradability of the BV7.

If a new feature came out lets say 3D could this be achieved by just buying a new screen and connecting it to the BS3 rather than a new TV each time?

When i first bought a BV7 the 40" screen did not bother me to much as i always intended to use my projector for films.

Now i am finding that i feel I would like a larger screen for normal TV viewing and would be great and wall mounted would mean my projector could be better fitted to the celing.

One thing i dont like about BV4 so much is the Frame looks HUGE.

Sorry for the mess of this post but its hard to put many thoughts down on Paper/screen.

    Re: Should i Consider Change

I knew and have confirmed that TVs are the worst investment in the B&O range...

I got an MK3 and was tempted to upgrade to the MK4. Now its an MK5, tomorrow, 6,7,11... ultimately, I think its just worth holding on to it since ultimately it DOES give a nice picture and invest/spend that money on other B&O things. Yes fine, you get the MK5 TV but the thing looks the same (the product) as the MK3, nothing new there except a change of your cash balance. I don't know what other B&O equipment you have, but maybe its worth upgrading speakers, a new audio master, start a new project to B&Oise another room... etc.

I find this loads more fun than just upgrading the same product. I got myself a BS9000 and I am loving it! Its changed my room and brought me back to listen to CDs (currently I only have 10 CDs!!!! and a trillionish mp3s!) The quality of CDs vs normal mp3s is amazing, cant believe that I have been missing out on this for years!

Next thing I want is a BL2000/BL3500 for the kitchen... thats more fun, getting new things...

    Anyway, that my opinion :)

    Re: Should i Consider Change

Yeah they are the worst investment but without it my audio solution would not work as i distrubute my Apple tv via the house and this is my main source.

I am feeling the buying new products as this is always a good feeling.

Its a shame they dont do a better upgrade service.

Might look at some lab 9's but then this leaves me with another problem.

I use my main room system for Film and i have Lab8000 and Lab2

If i got the 9's i would prob loose the lab 2 to be able to afford it.

If i loose the lab2 i notice the lack of rumble for film but improvment in music with the lack of rumble.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

if i could afford it i would love to change the lab8000 for lab 9 and keep the lab 2 for a while so i could compare.

I had the BL2 and I sold that too, and got the BL9 and have absolutely no regrets. I know what you mean about the booming effects etc, but it can be overkill with the BL2. The BL9 are still amazing and music sounds like a dream!

You can then always save up again and buy the BL2 in the future.

cant you connect the apple tv to the audio master as well and distribute it that was as well?

    Re: Should i Consider Change

Currently the Apple TV is connected to the TV Via HDMI and Phono as my software level on the TV does not allow the audio over masterlink until a later version i believe.

Once my TV can "share" the sound over masterlink i will have my Phono link back and can connect it to AUX.

I dont think i will ever get rid of my B&o tv sytstem as i liek the intergration to much.

its difficult when its so expensive to upgrade if you like the newest models of things.

My mind says dont worry about MKV as MK6 will have more improvements and the MK5 is really only a tiny improvment over the MK3 (screen res)

My latest ;purchase was a broken beocenter 9300 which is now repaired and i love it even if i only use it as a radio and a beolink.

    Re: Should i Consider Change

I am thinking of changing my BV7 32 to a 40 Mk3 because of the bs3 chassis but now i am not sure, is the Beolab2 worth the investment.

I see the BL2 as a luxury... an addition. I wouldn't put it as a priority over anything in the B&O range. First you get everything else, then add the BL2 if you want...
