BV 8 vs BV 10 Sound Quality

    Hello everyone,

The picture quality between the BV 7, 8, and 10 is often discussed, as is the superior sound quality of the BV 7 over the BV 10 and 8.  However, I was wondering, for those that own both or have spent extensive time with both, how does the sound  quality between the BV 10 and 8 compare.  Which one do you prefer and why?  I've seen (and heard) both the 10 and 8, but haven't had enough time with either one yet, to form a good opinion.

The BV10 has the better picture and the BV8 the better sound. The BV10 just lacks depth to the sound - very detailed but no body. A characteristic of very slim sets I am afraid.

Re: BV 8 vs BV 10 Sound Quality

Both are (by B&O's standards) pretty average - but the BV8 just edges it for me.

With either set if you want the 'B&O Experience' you really need external speakers.  This will give you sound to match the image quality and thus make spending that much on a TV worthwhile!!

Peter is right though - you can't have rich, booming sound from something as thin as a tramps wallet.

Peter, a question: does the BL11 improve the sound on the BV10?

Re: BV 8 vs BV 10 Sound Quality

I had the BV8 32" for a year and traded it for a BV10 40", some weeks ago.

Agree that the BV8 had more body in the sound, but I think BV10 have more details. However, watching/listening to a nice bluray like Avatar, BV10 still deliver a very nice sound with impact when needed. I tried the eg. "Wolfman" Bluray, and there the BV10 really deliver nice "impact " sound.

I added a subwoofer to the BV10 for a while, and that really improved the sound on the lower end. It was not the BL11 unfortunately, so I had trouble with the fact that the Velodyne sub switched off (with a "bopp") when there where no LFE sound. So, I´m saving up for the BL11 to add to the setup later on.

Don't know! I used my BV10 with a BL2 and still found the sound not to my liking - have swapped to a BV5 and am happy again! I have not heard the BL11 yet!

Re: BV 8 vs BV 10 Sound Quality

I agree with Peter, the sound of the BV5 is far better than the BV8 and the BV10! I can use my "new" BV5 with Pentas but in stand alone it's absolutely wonderful!(the picture too!) Just a detail, don't forget to declare no speakers in the sound setup because bass will be truncated.
