    I saw a lot of auctions on e-bay with B&O products with the serial number partially written, or specificly ommited.

    Is there any reason for doing this ? What could happen if anyone offers the full serial number in the listing ?

Because to print the full serial number in an eBay advert could lead to a scam ownership claim!

There are people about who will do anything to make money.

I wouldn't either... just gives someone out there a way to put a good serial number on a stolen item or some other dodgy practice.
