    BV 3--32 and Apple TV

    Hi folks.

I had been toying with the idea of buying a Beomedia 1 in light of what seem to be incredibly good prices at the moment. But after further investigation, I have learnt that installation is a nightmare, the system is rapidly becoming dated, and I should look at Apple TV instead.

My question is, can I connect Apple TV to a Beovision 3-32? If so, what cables do I need?

All I really want to do is to be able to transfer music from my PC to my TV and possibly also photos and other files. I do not use i-tunes and I am not sure if that is a problem. My music is stored on Sony's SonicStage.

    Thank you for any advice!

    Hi,

I have a Beomedia 1 connected to my BV7-32, and i have to say it is working as it should. No problems on installation, and the photo streaming, N.Music, N.radio, and web function perfect. My only complaint is the lack of artwork on stored music, and as it appears they will not upgrade BM1 as it should. So for what it was meant to do works fine. But for a more future proof solution Apple TV is better i think.

To be honest, it is a problem.  Think of an Apple TV as an ipod, except it's permantly connected to your television.  It solely relies on streaming / storing information from your computer and information such as music and movies stored in itunes and photos stored in iphoto on a mac.

You can however download content directly from the internet (Apple Store) and have it store directly on to the Apple TV.  Ultimately, it is designed to sync back to your master itunes library and that means stored on a computer somewhere.

I love my Apple TV and the simplicity in which it works, and wouldn't swap it for anything.

If you use Sony's SonicStage, does this mean that you are operating with a Sony Vaio laptop?  Does Sony (check out Sony Style) if they offer a USB / Wifi dongle, which will allow you to stream content to your BeoVision.  With Photos and other files, how do you have these currently stored?

    Regards

    Michael.

Thank you Dimitris and Michael, much appreciated.

I have spoken to a B&O installer who has found a software update for the BV3 which will allow an Apple TV to be connected and operated via the Beo 4. I think it is a fairly recent update.

Having read all the reviews of the Apple TV, I am totally sold and hooked! I have already transferred my Sony music files to itunes in anticipation.

    Thanks folks and happy listening.

There is no cable to connect the ATV directly to the 3-32. ATV has no composite out. You need a convertor between your ATV and 3-32 from component to composite.

Thanks DoubleU, I'll get hold of one the convertors that you mention. I think they are referred to elsewhere in the Forum.

    Many thanks
