    BV7 Mk1 and Sky HD

My father has inherited my Grandads BV7-40 Mk1 and would like to upgrade his Sky package to the HD version. Looking at the back of the BV7 there is only one DVI socket and no HDMI's at all, could I simply get a converter plug from HDMI to DVI and run Sky HD through the BV7, or is there more to it than that???

    Many thanks

    Hi there,

I have a BV 7-32 MK1 and  fitted a converter plug and it works fine.

Also connected to Sky HD box.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for the response MERCATS, I appreciate it.

Do you know if the MK1 is HDCP compliant, apparently when I was told the BV7 MK1 might not work with SKY HD the guy I was talking to has now said it is due to the HDCP copyright protection, not the DVI socket itself as I thought

Re: BV7 Mk1 and Sky HD

    Hi again,

As I am no techie I'm not sure if it is HDCP compliant or not.  The only small problem I find with my setup is when you switch on the television (dtv) the picture does not always come on.  Sometimes you have to turn on and off a couple of times.  I understand this is because of the difference in software of the B & O TV and the Sky box when "talking" to each other at startup.  Otherwise no problem at all.

    Regards,

How about when you connect using component video? There should be no "talking" to each other then?

    It's the analogue HD connection.

Do check it's definitely HD, as some early ones had the DVI connection - and nothing behind it !!

The easiest way to check is to go into the Connections Menu, select STB(DTV) then follow the set-up process until it asks DVI/HDMI - YES/NO which will be the option at the bottom of four listed (sorry, can't quite remember the exact wording but you get the gyst).  If it's not got the HD scaler fitted, it won't ask the question..

    Hi there,

I also have a scart lead fitted between tv and sky hd box.

Lee, not sure if your comment was for me or David, but I had the hd module fitted to my tv.
