AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

Hi all, I'm trying to make a connection between my AV9000 and a Beomaster 5500. Is it possible? Of course ML will go through the 1610 (dedicated for the AV9000). Any ideas are more than welcome!

    Best regards

Sorry to dissapoint you but the only audio that is fit to work with AV 9000 is the Master unit AV 9000 (that looks like Ouverture)

Hi Ernie, It is possible. In the past I had a BC8500 and worked absolutely fine. Actually this is why the Beolink 1610 connector is used for. You are right that the MCPAV900 was the matching device but I also connected my Overture later on etc. but the quetion remains if Beomaster 5500 can be connected. Best regards Spiros

If your BM5500 has aux out you can connect it.

I do it with my BM6500 with no problems.

There is 3 types of Beovision AV9000 and the latest takes the 1611 converter. Mine is from 1998 and I do use 1611.

Look at the type number on the back and behind the center speaker cover. Pull it off and there is a label with a year on it (2 digits).

Other than that 1610 should do it.

BM5500 aux to aux 1610(or 1611) ml to masterlink socket on the back of AV9000.

Hi Fried, Many thanks for the tip. I already have the 1611 as well even though I used the 1610 for a long time. But, the BC8500 was connected through DATA (AUX) and Powerlink cable (Full power link/old type). What about it in this case? Will only the AUX cable do the job? Best regards Spiros

It does work great with only AUX to 1611 and then AV9000 in my case.

I do have the option to use powerlink but I do not know what benefits it will do at all as everything I wanted is there with the aux cable only.

Hi Fried, Many thanks for the tip that I will try tomorrow. Just one question. What options do you have in TV and Beomaster? Best regards Spiros

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

Well the Beosystem 6500 is in my office and the Beovisíon AV9000 is in the living room.

From the office I can get all sounds from the AV9000 regardless of its tv, vhs or dvd. I got a non B&O dvdplayer connected to the AV9000.

From the kitchen via MCL to Beosystem 6500 I can get the same sounds from living room as in the office.

From the living room I can get all AV9000 options of course + full control of the Beosystem 6500 in the office and get the sounds through the AV9000 centerspeaker for now as I got no Beolabs connected or yet to get some.

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

Hello Fried, I can already confirm that it is indeed working. However, the Beomaster 5500 has only option 1 or 2 and so has the AV9000. So after using the 1610 which is for direct connection with a Sound source on Option 2 (both) evertyhing works perfectly (e.g. watching TV switching to Radio -> TV switches off) but I also have double clicking of buttons meaning that when you press up then it skips one channel. If both on option 1 then you can of course listen to radio or TV at the same time and if of course you want to listen to TV through the AV TV buttons but I find it a bit incomplete So any other solution ideas how this could work?

    Best regards

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

I got my setup in 2 rooms and option 2. This works as I said.

I have been looking in the manual and it says:

Powerlink should only be used in 1 room if there is no speakers to the audio system.

Then there is a switch on the 1610 which should be set to 3rd position.

You should set the option to 0 for the Beomaster 5500.

    Sound 0 store

The above is for 1 room for AV9000 and audio system.

What year is the AV9000? Type number?

It could be that the 1611 would work better but try the 1610 instructions first.

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

I did try already however the point is that the Beomaster 5500 cannot accept A.Option 0!!!!! Or maybe there is a problem with my Beomaster?!?

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

Some of the Beomaster 5500 is not born to be linked.

    The serial number: 05101264

If your Beomaster is higher it should have a Beolink label on the back showing the right IC is installed.

The AV9000 manual says that the following systems can be used:

    Beosystem 6500 or 7000

45000 and 9500. There are limits to using these acording to the manual.

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

Well!! I linked it in my house link in option 6 and it mainly works using the 1611. The issue is that I can listen to N.Radio, N.Music etc (using Link button) but the TV!!! Not even with Link. Additionally, I can hear the sources but only on a certain volume level that I cannot change. Any ideas about it?

It sounds like a software conflict between BM5500 and AV9000.

If you can do Option 6 what about 5?

Otherwise I have no other ideas as option 1 for both should work in the same room. Or option 0 for the Beomaster 5500.

    What's wrong when using 1610?

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

Maybe it could be the case. The AV9000 is in my office and not in the house so this is why I use the 1611 since the 1610 is only for this particular TV. The funny thing is that the Beomaster 5500 CANNOT enter in A.Option 0 but only 1,2,5,6!! So no chance for me to have it on option 0 and test. Even when tested with 1610/AV9000 in the office it could work perfectly if I could have A.Option 0. But........

Re: AV9000 connection with Beomaster 5500. Is it possible?

    It could be.

As said the manual does not mention Beomaster 5500 and 4500, 9500 as being limited.

The only trouble with MPAV9000 is it only works well with the Beovision AV9000.

This means when the powersupply goes down you are left with the MPAV9000 and can't use it for anything.

Get a Beomaster 6500/7000 instead would be my advice.
