    Amp and speaker impedance

I'm wanting to drive 4 X 6 ohm speakers off a Passive kit.  Would it be better to drive them in Parallel (total burden at 3 ohms) or in Series (total burden at 12 ohms)??

I suppose heavy wire (like monster cable) would be very useful in both methods, yes??

I know this will effectively drive each speaker at 15 watts not 30, i'm just trying to find out what method would be best.

    THanks, Keith

    Re: Amp and speaker impedance

You better put them in series, 12 ohms would be a better value for the output amplifier of the passive. The value is also closer to the 8 ohms the passive is expecting.

Wiring in cable as monster is always better, especially if you have long distances. You will not loose any power on your speaker cords. But try to keep every wire from both channels in a equal length especially if your putting them in series. Dont forget also the serial connection between all the speakers, keep them equal.

I myself are using Kimber speaker cable for the connection (from Russ Andrews) wired to B&W ceiling speakers.

Yes, I kown my spelling is horrible… Huh?

no problem in parallel thats the way B&O due it in master control link where it f.ex. runs whit 8 speakers no problems,

it truns off if over heating...

Okay...so BnO does connects up to 8 speakers on the speaker level??

I know that they branch 5 pairs on the powerlink low level......

yes but every time you set a speaker on its reduce the max level off the amp. before it turned off...(8 = 4 pairs)
