Oh my gosh, the BeoLab 5 the ugliest 'thing' I have ever seen and the price of a Mini Cooper! It's simply disgusting!

BeoVision 3 I think is a total mess

Never warmed to BeoSound 1 or Beocentre 2

@paul: I know speakers which are even more ugly then the BL5... at the price of a Rolls Royce.. so they're not that bad after all :-)

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

    I agree - a stinker!

Thought you would agree Peter. It was not until I had one that I realized just how bad they are.Sad Good news is it sold on Ebay last night and has gone in the post this morning. Never to be seen again.LaughingLaughing

Well, I have to disagree with both Peter and Craig on this one. Always had problems with the BT/ Virgin online voicemail services (too easy to miss the warning tone) and until recently had a Dect phones where the answerphone function was just far too quiet on the loudest setting. Bought a new (old stock) Beotalk 1200. Fantastic. Great display. Superb volume. Agree there's a rather lengthy manual, but hitting the 'News' button takes you back through the messages in sequence, and the same button cuts-out the machine if you've just taken too long to pick up the phone. Also good settings for the number of phone rings...... our last Dect answerphone would only allow 4 rings before the message cut-in...... useless.

As far as my worst products are concerned I have ambivalent feelings towards the Serene phone: mine is still going strong but in truth it has limited functionality. After an early overheating/ rapid battery run-down problem was corrected it has worked OK in the main, but I am now finding that some buttons take a very firm press to make them function, and sometimes a completely wrong letter or symbol is generated. I can imagine B&O could have lost many potential long-term customers if they had paid the full retail price for this phone and were new to the B&O brand.

Re: WORST 10 designed Bang & Olufsen products ever

I've just thought of a definate #1 in my list .......... any product released in so - called special/limited edition GoldIck! (thank God the Beo1 remote was obsolete before they made it even more abhorrent). Absolutely disgusting & ostentatous beyond the limits of taste - except perhaps the Beosound 1 which for some strange reason manages to carry it off.

    Chris.

Do yourself a favour Graham, next time the buttons need a little firmer press, use one of these :-

    Dave:

I love the serenata design, BV8 design, BV9 design, beo1 design, BV3 yellow colour, green beolabs, bm8000, only things i would concur  with are the beo 5 and the beosound 5 (but the BS5 just because it's a piece of shi* to setup.

I was completely unaware that the BV3 came in yellow until very recently and was very eager to see it, mostly because I imagined a canary tone from a Ferrari or Beocom 2 only to find that pale hue. Sad Not for me I suppose, unless I saw a terrible picture or something. Prove me wrongYes - thumbs up

Is that the special B&O £10k limited edition hammer by any chance?

The Beolab 5 have reasons to look like that, and as an uncompromising technical achievement I completely forgive them for being ugly Smile

Have to agree about BV3. For some reason, that on the castor stand is about the only B&O product that makes my stomach turn...

Never was too fond of the triangles hanging off of things either.

Wow... I am a huge BeoTime BeoTalk fan! [corrected... Laughing]

I can't really think of anything that I don't like in some form or fashion. The only thing I can come up with: the co-branded stuff like BS6 and the Serenata... With that said... I love my Serene!

I like the BeoTime too - as long as you don't take it too seriously, it is wonderful! I don't use it as either a remote or an alarm clock, more as a whimsical ornament!

Fair play Peter, but 300-odd notes is a lot for any ornament no matter how whimsical!

I didn't say it was good value! But it is not bad design which is what this thread is about. The Beo1 is though - how on earth can you work teletext or choose satellite programs on a remote with no numbers!

Agreed! For a company that prided itself on the linking of its products and the use of one remote for a variety of functions, it was a strange one indeed :)

I'm not sure if bad design is the same as bad quality but my A8's for the serenata has just broken for the 3rd time in under 2 years. I despair!!

Re: WORST 10 designed Bang & Olufsen products ever

@PaulWinn: the beolab 5 speaker is purpose built, where form follows function and that explains the shape of the speaker. If you look at the design studies you will realize that the ALT technology gives not much room for another design.

I think they did a great job in designing speakers with that performance that don't look like conventional speakers.

I love the design and would NEVER trade them for anything else.

    Regards

    Stephan
