Moving House & Buying New B&O

I am about to move house and finally have a full B&O system working as it should rather than bits and bobs just lying around!

What I am planning on having is as follows:-

    Living Room

BeoVision 7-40 MK5 (when it hopefully come out in the next month or so!)

    BeoLab 7.2

Sky HD, Apple TV and Wii

    Kitchen

BeoVision Avant 28" maybe BeoVision 5 if allowed by the Mrs!

    Bedroom

    BeoVision 6-26 MK1

Whilst I know I will be able to get the Sky, Freeview and Blu-Ray on the link I would like to be able to get the Apple TV as well and here come the problem because you need to have composite going into the TV as well, which you can do and it will then distribute the picture in B&W, which is fine because I only want it for navigating the music but it then changes the settings on the Apple TV from 1080p to 480i and this is not a compromise I want to make!!

I currently use Airport Express and then my iPhone to control but the wireless can be a bit sketchy at times and so I would much rather use the stable ML. Even if it was just to pull the audio through and use the iPhone to control again but when I have tried this before it seems that on say a BeoLab 3500 it will pull through the Audio over the ML if you then go to a TV it says V.Mem on the screen but I get no Audio, so it would seem that if it doesnt see the video then it doesnt even bother sending over the audio either.

    Does anyone have any suggestions???

    Thanks.

P.S will post photos of install when finished!

    BeoVision 7-40 MkV

And you also might end up disappointed. Ever seen Blu-ray via Masterlink? If I use my BV7-40 MKV Blu-ray player to watch a Blu-ray across 'the link', the linkroom TVs miss frames. The picture judders along.

Also, since the release of the BV7-40 MKIV, there's a known audio delay between linkroom TVs. If you want to watch the same TV programme between your living room and kitchen, you'll hear a noticeable audio delay, particularly with Sky.

Not sure if it is any help at all to you... but take a look at this thread. Smile

Re: Moving House & Buying New B&O

To be honest, I probably won't watch that many Blu-Ray's over the Link. Mainly just DVD's. The only place apart from the living room I may want to watch them is the bedroom and in there I will have a seperate Panasonic Blu-Ray player which despite the TV not being HD it plays them fine over composite to scart just obviously not in HD quality but is fine for a bedroom TV and saves having to have duplicate DVD/Blu-Rays.

As for the sound delay this has been solved with the new software and I can confirm that it does work perfectly with no delay when pulling sound over the link but there is when pulling video over but this is no biggy as the only time I would use it all together would be on Apple TV if I can get it to work.

Burantek thanks for the link I did see this however it means that the picture is 480p still not 1080p I actually have my ATV hacked using SW called ATVflash which is brilliant by the way!

I guess I could get a BeoSound and connect the Apple TV in to A.Aux and then use that to pull it round the link...

I'm not sure what the situation is in Europe, but here in North America we've been using a video matrix switcher as an integrated option to pull a selection of sources to all attached B&O tvs with a single cable set. It works brilliantly and has added a huge value to projects that would otherwise require Crestron to manage such a solution. Anyone interested in sharing video sources at full resolution should discuss the option with their dealer.

Hey wouldn't the BV6 be better suited for a kitchen, and the AVANT/BV5 for a bedroom? :)

Sounds like it will be a lovely setup > which BeoLabs are you keen on for this new place??

Re: Moving House & Buying New B&O

Software version 8.12 is the one!

As for the BeoLab's I would love a pair of BeoLab 9's for the Living Room with the BeoVision 7-40 and BeoLab 6000's for rears but the BeoVision 7 is stetching the budget massively anyway! Plus the other half has strictly said no to BeoLab 9's but I will sneak then in one day!!

Part of the reason for buying the BeoVision 7-40 over the BeoVision 10-46 is the BeoLab 7.2 I was at a friends house recently and we watched Casino Royale back to back with Quantum of Solace and he only has the BeoLab 7.2 but it was absolutely incredible. Its amazing in the shops but in a home it seems even better!

Does anyone have any kind of idea when the MK5 is coming out as I'm getting bored of waiting I was told May?June but there are still no part numbers available!

Also what colour to go for???
