Beosound 3 - Setting up clock

I've just purchased a second hand Beosound 3 and have been trying to set up the time without success.

The instruction manual says to hold down Stand by in stand by mode then change the numbers with the up/down arrows.

On doing this the 4 line appear but I am not able to see/change any number.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated Smile

    Thanks

Give people a chance to digest and reply. A 1.5 hr wait isn't long. Someone will be on the case, soon..!

Re: Beosound 3 - Setting up clock

The way it works with mine is:

    1)  Press and hold stand-by until the --:-- appears

    2)  Release the stand-by button

    3)  Press and hold up or down arrow to set time.

If this is not working, then you probably have a fault.  BS3's (especially early ones) are known to have problems with their control panel :(.  Although, usually, the behavior is far worse (turn on/off on it's own).

    Hi Stan

thanks for your advice. I've been trying to do as you suggested with no results. I think there's a fault. Everything else seems to work well so far (got it only yesterday).

This was originally bought in 2006 so I guess it's one of the old ones with some kind of fault. Luckily I didn't pay too much for this second hand and it's in mint conditions. However, being a perfectionist, it gets me that it's not perfect and cannot set the time and timer therefore. So my next question is: is it worth it to have it repaired and how much i could expect to pay?

    Thanks again!

This touch panel problem was a clear manufacturing fault, and often has been (should be) repaired at no charge even after the warranty is out. I don't know if it would be a problem when you are not the original owner, but it's worth asking the local B&O anyway (if you are not willing to return the whole thing).

Actually, I just tried my steps on my own BS3 and maybe there is good news.

You must hold the stand-by button until the "--:--" *blinks*.  If you try the up/down arrow when it first appears, nothing happens.  Hold until it blinks, then try the up/down arrow.

Stan, can I give you a big hug? You've made my day!

I thought I had already tried that with no results but I tried again after reading

your last reply. It worked!!   I've been able to set up the clock and use the

timer function as well! I had called the Bang & Olufsen store in Glasgow and I was

asked £100 for the inspection only Indifferent.... you know B&O...

Thanks everyone for the advice given.

Brilliant thread - I had no idea the BS3 could show the time - just set mine up.

    Blokes and manuals eh!!

I got quoted £120 for delivery of a new set by the same store, B&O! Typical!

    Bruno,

How are you going with the BeoSound 3?  How does it actually function as an alarm clock?  Can you set it to either radio or SD? Can you see the clock during the night in your bedroom?

    Cheers

    Michael
