Ok guys, the BV10-46 is now available, at your local dealer and should be shipping soon. I haven't had chance to visit my local dealer and won't be able to for another week or so.

So, anyone received their BV10-46? What do you think? Anyone moved up from the BV10-40 and, if so, any improvement?

What's the UK RRP for the BV10-46 inc stand?

Slight sad I'm replying to my own post, but managed to get to my local dealer today to see the BV10-46.

The picture is outstanding. A step up from the BV7-40 MKIV! Who needs a BS3-powered set, eh? Sound was good, but not excellent. I guess I'm spoilt with my 7.4+BL9 setup. You'd get used to the sound, though.

The thing that shocked me, is the step up in price. The BV10-40 retails for £6100 in the UK. The 6-inch bigger BV10-46 is £7900, or a staggering £1800 for 6-inches of extra real estate. Now, I don't know the difference in price between a Samsung LED 40" and 46", but my guess is it's £200-£300?

But this also means that the BV10-46 is more expensive as a base TV (without stand) than a Blu-ray BV7-40?

Prices from the "Whathifi" reviews of the UE40B8000 and the 46" version (which I believe are the panels used in the BV10) are priced at £1390 and £1930 respectively (I quote these as I assume that Whathifi quoted the list price in the review). That's a 38% differential.

Although the screen diagonal is only 6" larger that actually equates to a 32% increase in screen area!

The B&O prices show only a 29.5% increase - Bargain!

You may be right about the BV7-40 (if you already have speakers) but it's like a BV7-46 would be ~ 30% more expensive!!

 

p.s. just had a quick, one page skim at best prices for the Samsungs - £1230 & £1630 respectively, i.e. still maintaining a 32% differential. On a secondary note, these models are in the process of being replaced by the "C" models, including 3D - the 46" model is £2199.

Although I wouldn't buy one (the 3D model), I did watch the demo reel in Currys at the weekend and I have to say it was pretty impressive as a novelty feature!

Yeah, these new screens are outstanding. Even the BV7-55, with the new backlit LED screen is superior to that of the BV7-40. Should be interesting to see the BV7-40 MKV when it's released in June. That's going to have the same panel as the BV10-40 - 200Hz, backlit, LED.

As an aside, the Samsung "C" models are very attractive, they are wafer thin as a wall mount (~24mm) and have a slender brushed metal surround rather than the normal black plastic. No prizes for guessing who thery're copying off - but as a wall mounter. with external speakers it would look very swish indeed at a bargain(ish) price.

And also proves you don't need a BS3 to get a great picture! As the BS3 doesn't do DTS-HD, I'm wondering what benefits it now offers most home users.

I saw the list of products due for release in the next few months (by mistake, I must add...) and there's no BV7-46. I asked my dealer and he said there's no planned BV7-46.

So, it's BV7-40 MKV or BV10-46.

 

I would go at once for a BV10-46 in my livingroom (I have already a BV10-40 in my bedroom and an Avant in my livingroom). But the BV10 has actually no active timer which I would need p.e. for waking-up with music in my bedroom. Also because of the missing active timer it is not possible to make timer-records with my DVD2 attached to a BV10. Regards Räuber

All the things we know. B&O don't go announcing secret stuff to dealers, knowing that customers might see the info. ie. iPod dock due soon, BeoSound 5 software update, BV7-40 MKV etc.

I was told a hard disc is coming before christmas, but only for the TVs based on Beosystem 3

The first impression is a brilliant picture quality with a deep black colour level using the Technisat HDS-2 plus. There is absolutly no clouding issue anymore. The software seems to be updated because on the first menu page "TV Configuration" you now have the options "switch-off timer" and "start timer". I will keep you informed. Yeti410

This is because of the actual software version Build 109e, which is also available for the BV10-40. But there is still no ACTIVE timer!

 

Following on from my "I couldn't resist" postThe BV10-46 was delivered and fitted two weeks ago. It was £8000 inluding the wall mount. It is a like for like swap on our wall for the old BV-5 and takes up almost exactly the same amount of wall space as you can see in the photo above. With Sky HD we have three means of receiving TV as it has both an analogue and freeview HD receivers built in. Although we have a white fret it should have been grey and we are waiting for one to arrive.

The quality of the picture is wonderfull (my wife describes it as looking through a window). SD is excellent and a true HD broadcast (HD cameras etc) is outstanding. Compared to the BV5 it is more vibrant with bright whites,black blacks and simply beautifull lifelike colours. I have tweeked the brightness and contrast slightly from the factory settings. Brightness up 2 units & contrast up 1unit. The sound is good although with the BL5 providing most of the output there is not much difference from previously, however the centre channel on a DD or DTS 5.1 soundtrack is much better. I never did get a good centre channel with the BV5 setup. There may be a slightly greater output from the rear channels but that may reflect a newer DD/DTS module in the BV10.

One main disapointment is the lack of built in rf modulator  As you can see from the top photo it is the huge black box sitting behind the SkyHD box and supplies the signal for the link room TVs. It slightly spoils the generally clean lines of the overall setup. Also there is still the occasional "comet trail" from fast moving cricket/golf balls. For those of you getting a new SKY HD box, they have only one scart output. Some pins in the scart cable need to be disabled for the link room TVs to work properly (sorry don't know the technical details).

Overall however we are delighted with change.

The 10-46 is mounted on the same floor stand as my 10-40. The big advantage for me was that the back-side of the new 10-46 is black, so that we still could use the black "x".form adapter plate.

I'm also planning to have mine mounted on a floor stand, as I reckon it's more B&Oish and majestic.  But I don't quite get what you meant by the 'black "x".form adapter plate.  Could you elaborate more or even show us some pictures?

Maybe a dopey question - but " the lack of built in rf modulator" ? I thought the BV10 fully supports link setups (it has an RF out to supply video to link systems) ?

Yes, the BV10 supports link setups, but you will need an additional "RF Link Amplifier". It´s only a little box, but difficult to hide if BV10 is wall mounted. This amplifier is also needed p.e. for a BV7, in the past (p.e. for an Avant) it was integreated (better solution in my opinion). Regards Räuber

Should they produce the BeoVision 10 also in 50 inch??

I've been told that if the selling goes well they will produce a larger version.

 

If so, will it be available until the end of this year? I wonder if B&O will produce a 10-50, who would then buy the 7-55 or the 4-50..?
